Folks in big bodies have different considerations when finding a strength and muscle building resistance program. The principles are fundamentally the same, but the application is very different for someone who weighs 350 vs 150, even at the same level of muscular fitness.
Many people who want to lose fifty pounds, lose a hundred pounds or more know that to do so with the best chance of long term success, they need to perform resistance training to preserve muscle mass and lean tissue while in a long-term caloric deficit.
However, less apparent are the specific ways that "heavyweights" can get started while
1) Avoiding injury
2) Avoiding burn out
3) Enjoying the process and
4) steadily making progress
In this video I coach a weight loss client through the best ways to get started with resistance training for overweight people. You will learn
* The importance of thinking about movement patterns rather than "exercises"
* The progressions that can allow you to perform basic movements at your level
* How to progress through these variations for maximal strength and muscle building
* How being overweight offers huge advantages when performing calisthenics
* How I got YOKED during quarantine because of the surprising benefit of calisthenics in a big body.
And more!
