What a delight!
I enjoy several history podcasts but never had interest in the Stewart period previously. I found this podcast while looking for info about George Villiers. What a treasure! I’m just starting (late winter 2024) and I’m excited to binge this podcast. The info is presented in a way that really helps track all of the names through the decades and all the political chess games. I find it absolutely fascinating and the humor and detail is joy. Well done!

Excellent podcast
I found this just through a search for Stuart-related podcasts and it is excellent. Just as with with reading books, I prefer something a cut above “popular history” and this podcast is very well researched and presented. I’m working my way through all the episodes now and will be sad when I’m finished. There has been an explosion (it seems to me) of ‘History of..’ podcasts and many are very good, but this is one of the best.

It’s a great show
The narration great, goes into to great depth. Pacing is good. Not annoyingly repetitive. However the ads are just unbearable. Tried to binge the show. Within 3 episodes I heard 9 ads for dope gummies. The same ad. Something has to be done to remedy this.

Top notch academic yet accessible history podcast
This is definitely one of my all time favorite podcasts. I am currently a PhD student studying with one of the foremost scholars on the early Stuart period, and I wish I had had this podcast before I started studying with him. It took me a lot of piecing together to get anywhere near this narrative flow presented in this podcast, which I believe should make it accessible even to non-specialists. However, spent two years going bit by bit through all the specialist literature, I can here the layers of scholarship that have gone into the making of this podcast. Check out the associated website as well.

Absolutely exceptional
I found about this podcast from his guest episode on pax Britannica and I really enjoyed how he presented his research there. The political narrative is at the front but he goes into great depth and uses it to explain other phenomena in social and economic history. I’ve never been able to really get into british history on account of the frequent name changes, but this podcast has changed that. I hope the podcaster (whose name I don’t know) gets the recognition he deserves.

Extremely informative and engaging
This has quickly become one of my favorite history podcasts. It's a confusing period, but he manages to situate the significant ongoing changes through the period, and allows a lot of the motivation to shine through in a way that's rare.
