Here at DTEC-TAG, we lead educational change, enhance teacher efficacy & increase dialogue in communities to improve student achievement under ESSA through educational advocacy. #TAGUrIT The Delta Research and Educational Foundation (DREF), in collaboration with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. (DST), is embarking upon a potentially highly impactful educational endeavor, which aims to enhance student academic achievement by focusing on improving teacher effectiveness. The Delta Teacher Efficacy Campaign emanates from the Foundation and the Sorority’s joint commitment to ensuring that all students are educated in a manner that prepares them to enter and excel in college, and, ultimately, create a thriving life and career for themselves. The DREF-DST collaborative will include a three-prong approach: training for teachers, conducting advocacy sessions for communities, and publishing scholarly research on teacher efficacy and student achievement in PHILLIS: The Journal for Research on African American Women published by DREF. Vanessa began her career in social work with the Missouri Department of Social Services before pivoting and becoming an educator. She held numerous teaching awards before becoming a Vice Principal and District Literacy Coach. Vanessa lived in Syracuse, NY for three years lending her talents to the effort of turning around a struggling school.  The school received 11 awards during her tenure for:  decreased attrition of teachers, family and community involvement, meeting NY State DIIR targets in year 1, most improved teacher attendance, rigorous restorative practices, and decreased recidivism (including serious incidents, OSS & ISS).
