At noon on Saturday, they will be holding their annual Mascot Skate event, where mascots from around the metro will be on the ice. By adding kittens, of course! This Saturday, February 15th, the Animal Rescue League is holding two yoga classes called, Cats ‘N Mats. For a $15 fee, you will get an hour-long class surrounded by kittens, followed by a Meow-mosa afterward for those 21 and up. The kittens at the class will all be adoptable, so bring a carrier as well as your mat, if there is any chance a kitten will be coming home with you. It’s a show that reenacts an event from history, as it’s told by a drunk historian. It is hilarious and informative, and I’m happy to report, that xBk, the live music venue in Dogtown is hosting an event next Wednesday the 19th called Buzzed History. The theme of the night is ‘Well Behaved Women Rarely Make History’, and ANYONE can sign up to tell a story!Where: xBkWhen: Wednesday, February 19th from Cost: FreeLink to more informationLooking AheadMother/Son Fun NightFebruary is a month for Father/Daughter dances, so I just wanted to give you a heads up about a Mother/Son event on the horizon, hosted by Des Moines Parks & Rec. A Mother/Son Fun Night is scheduled for the evening of Saturday, March 7th at the Pioneer Columbus Recreation Center, which is just south of Wells Fargo Arena. For $10 per person, the event will include animals from Blank Park Zoo, a video gaming truck, an inflatable obstacle course, face painting, a fire truck and laser tag. There will also be pizza and drinks.
