The State Historical Society has created Goldie’s Kids Club, which was created to introduce and engage kids in Iowa history. Select museum programs and events are open to kids signed up for the club. On a monthly basis, kids ages 3-7 are invited to a morning storytime. The next one is scheduled for Wednesday, February 19th at 10.For kids 8-12 years old, there are monthly First Saturday programs, which either focus on Innovative Iowans, or an Iowa History Mystery. They are hosting their 3rd annual, completely free, Shiver on the River event. This event is about being ridiculous outside, and the weather looks like it will be perfection for this. At 10am, you can start signing up to participate in one of the 12 scheduled events, which include: frozen turkey bowling, beer cooler curling, a human dogsled race, and a Christmas Tree drag race. Registration opened in December, but registration is still at a reasonable $55 for the race. Those tickets are $25-119 and are still available as of 2/4.TicketsThe Thing You Know AboutV/Galentine’s DayCome Pho Love (+ Beer)If you’re looking for something a little different on Valentine’s Day, check out the event happening at Mainframe Studios. It’s called ‘Come Pho Love (+ Beer)’ and it is a beer, food and art event that will include six different food stations, a beer tasting, live music and a photo booth. His events are called The Move, and this one, The Move Pt. 3 is being held at the original St. Kilda location on SW 5th this Saturday, February 8th from 6-9pm. Tickets are $5 and a dollar of each entry will be donated to an Australian Wildlife Rescue nonprofit. That series is already coming together for the summer of 2020 with two musical acts in the books:–AJR will probably be kicking everything off on May 29th from 7-10pm. Tickets are available now from $40-60.–Trampled by Turtles and Wilco are booked for September 17th from 5:30-10pm.
