Driving My Mind Podcast
Driving My Mind Podcast
Darrick Wong
"For all things the driving mind ponders" will relate to the complexities of what, I believe, is the last hoo-rah for the automotive enthusiast. I hope to connect with those who are drivers, car enthusiasts, and those who turn wrenches and capture a piece of why they involve themselves in this burdensome hobby. As we transition to electrification, I want to leave a running record of what it was like to see the last golden age of the internal combustion engine. I will have my eccentric thoughts of what the modern car community has to offer. At times I will seem unreasonable, ill-informed, or perhaps even uncouth when it comes to my topics of discussion, but I hope it sparks those independent thinkers in "the scene" to challenge me or themselves to the "what" and "why." Thank you to those who have followed my Youtube Channel @yourrideandi and I hope to offer you another outlet of pessimistic, yet appreciative enthusiasm for the automotive gear-heads. Where do YOU fit in the car community?
After the viral video from Rancho Santa Fe Cars and Coffee went out, I discuss both sides of where one is building a brand as an organizer vs. allowing all hard working car enthusiasts to enjoy a simple cars and coffee. At the end of the day, let's focus on community!

Manufacturer Subscriptions
"Today, we offer you your brand new BMW with the heated seats starting at $18 a month!" Yes this may soon be our future where auto manufacturers are including features in cars that exist, but you have to pay a subscription for it. With the advent of Over-the-Air updates and the younger generation being more friendly to subscriptions, automakers are seeking ways to continue the cash flow by having features on cars the consumer pays monthly for. I discuss these pros and cons but let me know if you'll be paying for a car subscription in the future.

The Stereotypical "Carbro"
I dive deep into rant with regards to the "carbros" I've come across recently both in real life and on YouTube. What makes a "carbro" and how do we address this problem as a car community that seriously don't want these people ruining what we have? Definitely a fun topic I enjoyed discussing!

Monetizing Takeovers
Yes you read this right - monetizing street takeovers; however, this episode is meant to hold US accountable for its proliferation. In this episode, I discuss how we as a car community will continue to see these takeovers happen because of its monetization. People will continue to film, promote, and encourage the accessibility of it so they can get more likes and clout in their social media. In my opinion, the only way to minimize this problem is to cut off the revenue stream for those involved in these activities and I discuss how we can do this without cutting off car enthusiasts.

Get That CUV!?
With the American populace choosing CUVs over sedans, minivans, and trucks, I discuss the potential reasons why they are doing it and why they should stop! There are always consequences as a consumer for how we influence the products manufacturers provide and CUVs are a byproduct of our consequences. While they may make sense for the non-enthusiasts, if you have any semblance of automotive passion PLEASE listen to the reasons we should avoid them.
