Jason thinks the Minnesota State Fair has broken into the national consciousness this year. Jason and Dan talk about Matt Little trying to set a record for hand shakes. Dan Hayes joins Jason to talk Twins baseball.

Dan Hayes covers the Minnesota Twins for the Athletic. He joins Jason DeRusha to talk about a CRITICAL series for the Twins in Chicago this weekend. Jason asks about Byron Buxton’s hip injury that will require surgery this offseason. Dan says he knows he has to get it fixed but is still going to try to help push for the playoffs this season. Dan also breaks down what’s transpired in the last few weeks after having a chance to make some noise only to falter down the stretch.

To open the show Jason voices his frustration with the systemic failure that resulted in the loss of lives in the Minneapolis mass shooting earlier this week. Listeners weigh in with their thoughts. Then, he provides an update on the ongoing custody battle for the ICE officer who lied about a shooting in North Minneapolis earlier this year. To finish off the first hour Michele Tafoya joins to talk about her campaign for the U.S. Senate.

Michele Tafoya is the Republican nominee running for U.S. Senate. Jason asks if Michele is embarrassed of Minnesota after saying she was ready to flee the state a couple years ago. She says she hears it from people every day and speaks to her passion for Minnesota and what it's meant to her family. Jason goes on to ask Michele about the war in Iran, higher prices, voting for cabinet nominees, Operation Metro Surge and if she would call out presidential policies that would be hurtful to Minnesota. Michele says high prices didn’t start with the Iran War, she points to the Biden administration having an all time high level of inflation five years ago. She also says that she is not pleased with how Operation Metro Surge was handled.
