Drewling Samantics
Drew and Sam are actors. They’re not famous household names, in fact they’re not even particularly recognisable, but having spent over half a century in the industry between them it’s fair to say they’re pretty experienced. 2020 saw the boys temporarily forced to spend a lot more time ‘resting’ than they were comfortable with, so to keep themselves occupied (and out of trouble) they began a podcast, and now many months later they’re still at it! So join the Drewling Samantics chaps every Sunday (or download and listen later) as they give an entertaining insight into how their industry works - from modelling to voiceover, theatre to film, and television to streamed media, the gents talk about all areas of performance artistry, giving an insider view that is sometimes humorous, often eye-opening or poignant, and at times just downright strange! With regular guest appearances and the odd special ‘on location’ segment, Drewling Samantics brings something unique and fresh to the world of podcasts from two normal blokes, working in a rather abnormal industry.
S03E08 - Not Just A Pretty Face
Not Just a Pretty Face…  This week the Drewling Samantics chaps welcome the immensely talented Rebecca Grace to the show. A makeup artist, wig stylist and hair specialist, she represents one of the unsung but vital cogs in the entertainment machine, and due to being highly trained and highly skilled, is certainly in great demand. Rebecca has deployed her talents in many branches of the industry both on stage and screen, as well spending a lot of time working in the commercial sector and in education too, so it is no shock that her skills have been recognised by producers and companies world-wide. Drew and Sam are delighted she can take time out from her busy schedule (which even includes running her own company!) for a quick chat, and while she may not be able to spare the amount of time it would take to give the boys a makeover, she can still manage to pass on a few hints and share some of her career highlights too. Great fun and fabulously enlightening this latest episode is definitely sounding, and looking, like a winner!  Social Media Facebook.com/DrewlingSamantics Instagram.com/DrewlingSamantics Twitter.com/Drew_and_Sam Youtube.com/channel/UCUoVYL_Qzd_hgwzCCd2dafQ Facebook.com/ RebeccaGrace_MUA Instagram.com/RebeccaGrace_MUA Twitter.com/ RebeccaGrace_MUA RSS Feed https://feeds.buzzsprout.com/1696714.rss Music Vlad Gluschenko - Sunny Winter Day Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/deed.en

S03E07 - 'Tis the Season to Make Lolly...
‘Tis the Season to Make Lolly…  With Christmas around the corner Pantomime season is well and truly beckoning. Both the boys are heading off soon to temporarily relocate for a very busy remainder of the year, and that is what has sparked the topic of conversation this week on Drewling Samantics, as Drew and Sam discuss how their industry has interesting peaks and troughs that are driven by the time of year, seasons, celebrations, and the weather. Christmas time brings panto, grottos, and various other seasonal theatricals, Drew has just had a very successful Halloween event, and there are many more periods that can be counted upon to heavily fill the diary of someone in the world of performance - not to mention that wind, rain and shine (and all other varieties of the weather!) often dictate just what can take place. So drop in on the chaps now for this week’s show, and get more insider information about how this truly unique vocation functions - or at least tries to!  Social Media Facebook.com/DrewlingSamantics Instagram.com/DrewlingSamantics Twitter.com/Drew_and_Sam Youtube.com/channel/UCUoVYL_Qzd_hgwzCCd2dafQ RSS Feed https://feeds.buzzsprout.com/1696714.rss Music Vlad Gluschenko - Sunny Winter Day Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/deed.en

S03E06 - Stairway to Heaven
Stairway to Heaven  The best theatrical productions are often inspired by real life occurrences, and this week’s guests Anthony Merryweather and Emma Woodhouse have an incredible true tale to tell in their brand new musical, ‘The Truth Stops Here’. The tragic story certainly isn’t common knowledge, but along with the third member of the production team Nick Paterson, Anthony and Emma have created a brilliant and powerful show to make this little-known yet shocking event considerably more main-stream. Drewling Samantics regulars may recall Sam being in the cast for the development workshop and subsequent concert performances of ‘The Truth Stops Here’ back in the summer, and he is returning to the cast as the musical moves on to a fully staged version, but before that happens he and Drew have the honour of chatting to its creators and finding out the origins of the piece, how those involved in the real disaster have been memorialised, and much more besides. Today’s show also has some exclusive recordings from the workshop, and gives subscribers a chance to win tickets to a performance of the show in January, so tune in or you might miss out!  Social Media Facebook.com/DrewlingSamantics Instagram.com/DrewlingSamantics Twitter.com/Drew_and_Sam Youtube.com/channel/UCUoVYL_Qzd_hgwzCCd2dafQ EsherTheatre.com/TheTruthStopsHere Instagram.com/TheTruthstopsHere TheTruthStopsHere.com RSS Feed https://feeds.buzzsprout.com/1696714.rss Music Anthony Merryweather - Starting Today, There’s Nothing Like The Gas, 19 Steps Vlad Gluschenko - Sunny Winter Day Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/deed.en

S03E05 - Breaking Barriers & Building Bonds
Breaking Barriers & Building Bonds  Well it’s taken thirty-five episodes but finally Drew and Sam are tackling a sensible topic! It’s an element of the industry that has a more serious note and is certainly of much importance - but don’t worry, that doesn’t mean this episode is boring - not by a long stretch! Everybody involved in the world of performance knows just how powerful a medium these art forms are. In today’s show the chaps discuss how inclusive the industry strives to be and how it is improving. And to help illustrate and fuel the conversation, and continuing the regular outings they’re adding to this season, Sam takes a trip behind the scenes of a new play he recently appeared in, a play with historic and political themes that are still very relevant today. So tune in today for an episode which at times has a slightly different tone to usual, but one that still has plenty of the familiar Drewling Samantics flavour!  Social Media Facebook.com/DrewlingSamantics Instagram.com/DrewlingSamantics Twitter.com/Drew_and_Sam Youtube.com/channel/UCUoVYL_Qzd_hgwzCCd2dafQ RSS Feed https://feeds.buzzsprout.com/1696714.rss Music Vlad Gluschenko - Sunny Winter Day Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/deed.en

S03E04 - How's Work? It's All Gravy!
How’s work? It’s All Gravy!  Episode four has arrived, meaning another chance for Drew and Sam to welcome a guest and explore the many sides of the entertainment world. This week the boys are joined by the enormously talented and extremely many-sided Joel Hicks, who discusses just how he juggles the skills and passions that fill his life. As a model he is permanently in demand and enormously busy, but he also works on both sides of the camera including managing his own studio. And there is far more to Joel than just that as he has an exceptionally varied and enviable education, a huge commitment to charity work, and even spends a lot of his time helping and encouraging new talent. He also has a wicked sense of humour and a great feeling for fun, which means he finds himself in the most extraordinary situations as an actor, a model and beyond that too - but you’ll have to tune in to find out more!  Social Media Facebook.com/DrewlingSamantics Instagram.com/DrewlingSamantics Twitter.com/Drew_and_Sam Youtube.com/channel/UCUoVYL_Qzd_hgwzCCd2dafQ Facebook.com/JoelHicksOnline Facebook.com/JoelHicksPhotography.Online Facebook.com/ParklandsStudio Facebook.com/AWASFoundation Instagram.com/JoelHicksOnline Instagram.com/JoelHicksPhotography.Online Instagram.com/ParklandsStudio Instagram.com/AWASFoundation RSS Feed https://feeds.buzzsprout.com/1696714.rss Music Vlad Gluschenko - Sunny Winter Day Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/deed.en

S03E02 - Standing Up For Yourself
Standing Up For Yourself  Two weeks into the new season and already Drew and Sam are joined by a brilliant guest! Yes in today’s show the chaps have the pleasurable company of actor, writer and comedian Joz Norris. Having appeared on both stage and screen, Joz has a wealth of knowledge and experience (not to mention a fair few awards and nominations), and in this episode he gives an incredibly entertaining insight into the world of comedy - particularly his own unique branch of entertainment with its unusual characters and scenarios. So tune in for a whole lot of laughs, some interesting information, and a few deeper moments, as Joz proves just how right David Garrick was when he said “Any fool can play tragedy, but comedy, sir, is a damned serious business.”  Social Media Facebook.com/DrewlingSamantics Instagram.com/DrewlingSamantics Twitter.com/Drew_and_Sam Youtube.com/channel/UCUoVYL_Qzd_hgwzCCd2dafQ Facebook.com/JozNorrisComedy Instagram.com/JozNorris Twitter.com/JozNorris Youtube.com/user/Jozziah www.JozNorris.co.uk RSS Feed https://feeds.buzzsprout.com/1696714.rss Music Vlad Gluschenko - Sunny Winter Day Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/deed.en

S03E01 - New Thoughts & National Treasures
New Thoughts & National Treasures  After a brief period away from their microphones, Drew and Sam are back, ready and raring to go with a great new season! Full of inspiration and bursting with enthusiasm they step out from the shadow of the past months and crack on with a bright start to their next podcast adventure. A couple of theatrical outings and visits have kept the boys in touch during their break from podcasting, and with the industry going from strength to strength they couldn’t be more excited. This exhilaration and joy is unfortunately tinged with a little sadness after the recent loss of a well-loved performer, however the boys are staying positive and fondly remembering the legacy of some of the nation’s most talented entertainers, while also eagerly looking ahead at what’s to come. So join the Drewling Samantics pair for this first episode of Season Three, and stay with them over the following weeks for surprises, prizes, guests and excursions away from the studio and out into the world of stage, screen and more!  Social Media Facebook.com/DrewlingSamantics Instagram.com/DrewlingSamantics Twitter.com/Drew_and_Sam Youtube.com/channel/UCUoVYL_Qzd_hgwzCCd2dafQ RSS Feed https://feeds.buzzsprout.com/1696714.rss Music Vlad Gluschenko - Sunny Winter Day Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/deed.en
