Delightful!
I’m a fairly new listener to Dress: Fancy, but I quickly fell in love with it. The show covers a range of topics, many of which I knew nothing about but which ended up being fascinating. Always insightful and informative, but also just purely fun—without fail, I end up laughing out loud at some point during every episode. Great for costume/fashion lovers, but also anyone who loves a good story and/or a costume (fancy dress) party!

The Answer to a Dream...
A couple of months ago, I had a dream that I was at a fancy dress ball. I used to frequent Victorian and fancy dress balls in my twenties in the SF Bay Area but hadn't been to one in years. Something about the pandemic made my unconscious drift back to that space, the ball, where appearances were everything and the possibility that style actually could be substance was taken for granted. Oddly, I decided to see if there was a podcast that addressed all this and bam! here we are. Finding this podcast has been one of the highlights of the pandemic era, and has really encouraged me to find future opportunities for dressing up again in a post-covid world. Thank you so much! I look forward to the podcast's return, and really hope you'll look into the Mardi Gras Indians, one of the most divine examples of dressing up I've ever witnessed in person.

Delightful
The hosts are charming, funny and EXTREMELY knowledgeable. Their banter always keeps the subject matter from being dry. And sometimes I play the episodes quietly in the background and their lovely voices help me fall asleep...but only if I have listened to the episode before and listened to all the interesting information first! 💯😊

Absolutely Wonderful!
As a fellow lover of all things fancy dress I’m obsessed with this podcast. Just when I think I know everything possible about dressing up Lucy and Ben remind me that I am delightfully wrong. So well researched and interesting I recommend it to any one who has ever worn a costume or has an interest in history.

Informative and Lighthearted
I learned about this podcast through Dressed, another clothing/fashion history podcast of high quality. Well-researched and knowledgeable, the episodes focus on specific topics with delightfully droll commentary laced into the body of the episodes.

Entertaining creative cultural exploration
I only recently discovered this gem of a podcast through the Dressed podcast. The hosts are the perfect combination of smart, funny, & kindred spirits of this fascinating niche. The Victorian episode is incredible . I’ve recently been on a bender learning about the Victorian age , but I never would have thought to look at this age through the lens of fancy dress . I am so glad the podcast exists for this entertaining creative cultural exploration that I surely thought only existed in my nerdy fancy dress dreams. 🙌

Niche Subject, Serious Thinking
I thought “Dressed: A History of Fashion” was a niche podcast, but thanks to those ladies having Lucy and Ben on the show I’ve discovered an even more niche podcast in “Dress: Fancy” and it is absolutely delightful. The beauty of Dress: Fancy being so specific in their niche is that Lucy and Ben have the ability to really deep dive into a specific historical event (like the Devonshire Ball) or a specific subculture (like LARPers) and give it a serious thoughtful treatment that draws historical and modern parallels as well as balance the frivolous nature of being in costume to the real implications of those costumes and what their place is in society. Love their ability to both embrace and critically discuss everything from cheap Marilyn Monroe costumes to Handmaid protest wear to Romanov fancy dress balls!

Snobbery
I wasn’t to fond of the way you spoke of Disney in one of your episodes. Do you realize that Disney fans make up a large amount of people who would be interested in your podcast? From dapper day to Disney bounding, we embody everything you love and talk about here on the show. D23 is a huge event where we go above and beyond to become our beloved characters and Mickey’s not so scary Halloween party is what we live for. A chance to adorn ourselves with our treasured characters and to step into the world we adore and cherish. Lay off the snobbery when you talk about the company and or the parks. You are offending a great deal of us. I love the podcast and left 5 stars...just remember your fan base loves this thing you snub.
