Draft Day
John Fleming and Jason Bradshaw
On Draft Day, the Internet's John Fleming and Jason Bradshaw, along with special guests, go back in time and re-draft some of the most famous and infamous drafts in professional sports history.
The Sports Video Game Draft
So here's the thing--we recorded this later than we normally would, which means I am uploading this later than I normally would, which means I am exhausted and not clever. Not that I'm ever clever but sometimes what I say has some sort of point. In this case, not really. Just kind of rambling. Anyway, sports video games. There's a new EA Sports college football game coming out this week and in honor of that, we're going to pick our favorite sports video games of all-time, and by we I mean John Fleming and Jason Bradshaw and also our buddy JackJohn, and since this isn't the wrestling podcast again, John actually knows the subject kind of so he drafts too. Hope this is fun to listen to, and if it isn't, I will refund your money.

The 2000s Number One Hits Draft
On January 1, 2000, none of our electronic malfunctioned. And the St. Louis Rams won the Super Bowl that month, which ruled. Good start, aughts. On December 31, 2009, um, I had to work the next morning at 6 a.m. I remember feeling obliged to stay up until midnight but, like, I stayed home and watched one of those VH1 listicle shows. I think it was that Greatest Hard Rock songs. I think "Iron Man" by Black Sabbath was #1? Surely Scott Ian was interviewed. But in between, a bunch of songs came out. And I graduated grade school, middle school, and high school. Similar story for some other guys I know. Oh, yeah, John's the one writing this. Sorry my dog barked so much during the episode--he's a very sweet boy but also dogs hate fireworks. Anyway, Jason and I brought on our friend Tyler (who has the same name as my dog, who is also my friend but has never been a formal guest on the podcast) and we drafted our favorite number one songs of the 2000s. Hope you like it and stuff.

2008 NBA Draft
Happy Wednesday, and happy NBA Draft Day (oh my God, there it is, he said the title)! Tonight, NBA teams will try to shape their futures, and in honor of that, John and special guest P. Funk look back at the 2008 draft, one in which John's favorite team had the #1 overall pick and in which Funk's favorite team won the night. Also, the two reminisce about how the Phoenix Suns trying to dump Kurt Thomas's contract paved the way for everything good that has happened to the Oklahoma City Thunder for a decade and a half, including reminiscing about how crazy it was that Paul George got traded for so many first-round draft picks and pick swaps all until like five minutes left when the Mikal Bridges trade broke and everything we thought we knew changed in an instance.

The MLB SuperDraft
In most of our episodes, we take a year and draft the best players available from that year. But this time, we are organizing players by draft pick. John and Jason alternate to determine the best ever #1 through #30 picks in the Major League Baseball amateur draft.

The Pro Wrestling Promotion Draft
Is professional wrestling a sport? I don't know, man, it's more of a sport than making movies or a bunch of St. Louis food things and we drafted those before. But regardless, one of the regular hosts of this podcast is a big wrestling fan and one of them only knows what he accidentally learned by virtue of being extremely Online. So this week, the boys brought on a special guest, Twitch and Here's A Guy's own JackJohn, for a draft selecting dream professional wrestling promotions.

Draft Day on Draft Day
How important is listening to every episode of a podcast to you? In honor of the start of the NFL Draft tonight, John and Jason break down, in arguably excruciating detail, every scene of the 2014 film DRAFT DAY, starring Kevin Costner and Jennifer Garner. Hear their thoughts on Ivan Reitman's final directorial effort, how fast it would take to fly from Manhattan to Cleveland, and how highly they would draft 37 year-old Chadwick Boseman in the NFL Draft.

1996 MLB Draft
1996 was a banner year for the St. Louis Cardinals. They made their first postseason in nine years, Tony LaRussa and Bill DeWitt Jr. entered and Ozzie Smith existed, and they drafted higher than they ever drafted before, selecting Wichita State pitcher Braden Looper third overall. Do John and Jason like this pick? (No) There's only one way to find out (actually I just said the answer, it is no)--listening to the boys redraft the first 20 picks of the 1996 MLB Draft. In addition, they discuss the first big sports draft since the start of the podcast and also Mike Lansing briefly, for some reason.

1988 NHL Draft
We're getting back around to the 'Chel. Ugh, how embarrassing is it that referring to the NHL series of video games as "Chel" is part of hockey vernacular? Or that people will refer to celebrations as a "celly" without feeling intense internal shame? Or that we've abandoned giving out cool hockey nicknames in favor of going with what NHL players call each other, which is some derivative of their name with "er" or "y" at the end. Way back when, Georges Vezina was nicknamed "Chicoutimi Cucumber". Nowadays he'd be called Vezzer or something. Anyway, by some standards we're old, but by other standards we're young, like how neither of us were alive when this draft happened, but we have fond memories of many of the players involved in the 1988 NHL Draft. And we discuss those, as well as some players we don't really care about. Dumb preamble trivia goes until 36:50.

April Fools Draft
Ah, time to turn the calendar on another month. And in honor of the start of the new month, we're going to start making good episodes. April Fools! We would never set our sights that high. But we did set our sights on an unconventional draft, in which the hosts draft the worst draft picks in major professional sports history. From those who were poorly evaluated to those who got in their own ways, sometimes we say nice things about these players and sometimes we're talking about Lawrence Phillips.
