In January 2011, the first episode of this very fine sophisticated programme was released to the world. Fifteen years later and 199 more episodes later, DLC is still going strong and doesn't intend on stopping anytime soon. Listen in as we do a retrospective celebrating these two milestones, and thank you so much for being part of the journey.

The idea of post-game content is nothing new. For as long as video games have existed, developers have tried to find ways to keep you engaged with a game for as long as possible, including having more game after the credits. But what was once a bit of a novelty has now become the norm, even expected. We take a look at why that is, and also talk some of our favorite bits of post-game content from games we've played. 

Video games have always been a way for us to escape reality, but with the events of the last decade such as COVID, terrible government, and global calamity, the need for escape is higher than ever. Enter the cozy and wholesome game: relaxing, low-stakes, low or no combat, and an excellent way to unwind and de-stress from our current timeline. We talk about a bunch of them on this episode. 

​On our first episode of 2026: it seems pretty obvious as to why we play video games, but in this age of being hyper-critical of every piece of media we consume, it feels in some ways that we’ve in some ways lost why we play these in the first place – to simply have fun. We talk about some possible reasons about why we're compelled to be so critical and encouraged to fire off a hot take, then follow up with several games that we play purely for fun. 

On the final episode of 2025, we talk about the rise, fall, undignified death, and resurrection of what's now the only print video game magazine left in the United States: Game Informer. 

What games have you only ever beaten once and never returned to? On this episode, we examine our own personal one-and-dones, games that once we finished, for whatever reason, we decided never to return to.

Usually when we talk about a game or franchise on DLC, it's associated with an anniversary milestone. Rarely do we devote an episode to a game simply because it's awesome and we just want to be rabid fans. So, we do just that with the two main games in the Horizon franchise: Zero Dawn and Forbidden West. 

It's a tradition on DLC to have at least one episode each season devoted to just an open discussion on anything related to video games, and on this episode, the three of us talk about the feeling of playing a video game too late, old games currently being played, and the loss of dedicated exclusive handheld consoles now that we have things like the Switch and Steam Deck.

It's not a theory or trend anymore: the video game industry is broken. From tens of thousands of layoffs, to AI slop, to focusing on money above all else, it's clear that the industry needs some correction. But how? EDGE Magazine asked a bunch of their industry contacts and published some two dozen or so replies in their February 2025 issue. We go through some of those and give our own opinions.
