It is the season premiere of Double G Radio’s basketball show The Box Out. Kahlil and Jason return every single week from now until the end of the basketball season to discuss everything basketball. Both the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets are gearing up for the 2017-2018 NBA season. The guys will look at both squads and determine what their most significant challenges will be. Can the Nets compete in a weak Eastern Conference? Will the Knicks rebuild begin in earnest or fail miserably? Kahlil and Jason will preview the season for both tri-state area teams. The Knicks finally traded Carmelo Anthony with the perennial All-Star being moved to Oklahoma City in exchange for Enes Kanter, Doug McDermott, and a draft pick. Kahlil and Jason will give their thoughts on the deal and what it means for both teams. Joining the show will be Double G Sports basketball writer Ben McDonald with his thoughts on the trade and if the Knicks got back what they deserved or could have gotten more for Melo. The Box Out returns as we move ever so closer to the beginning of the NBA season. As the start of the season draws near, so does the likelihood of the Knicks beginning the season with Carmelo Anthony on the roster. The problem….a new blog post by Knick GM Scott Perry on Thursday does not include Carmelo in the discussion of the team.  There were also reports this week that Anthony is confident that New York will trade him to Houston by Monday. Add in the comments by Michael Beasley that the Knicks can compete for the fifth or sixth playoff spot and there is a ton to talk about when it comes to the Knicks. After Cleveland had buyers remorse and attempted to get more from Boston, the trade was finally completed with the addition of a 2020 second-round pick also going to Cleveland. Now that the deal is done, is Cleveland still the best team in the Eastern Conference? Does this trade push Boston past Cleveland? With the successful first season of the Big 3 now in the books, they are now facing a lawsuit from another legends league. However, with a second season guaranteed can the Big 3 one day rival the NBA one day? The guys will discuss. The NFL is still answering questions about Colin Kaepernick and why he still does not have a job in the league. Kahlil and Jason will discuss whether this has or ever will ever happen in the NBA and why the NBA seems light years ahead of the NFL when it comes to player activism and social awareness. The Box Out comes to you on a Friday night, a little later than normal but news packed nonetheless.  Well, it finally happened - Kyrie Irving was traded this week. Irving went to the Boston Celtics for Isiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic and Boston’s first round draft pick that belonged to the Nets. With the trade now complete, what does this mean for both the Celtics and the Cavaliers? Does this trade push Boston past Cleveland into the number one contenders for the Eastern Conference?   With the Kyrie deal done, the question locally becomes what does all of this mean for the New York Knicks? No Kyrie and Carmelo is still on the team. Where do the Knicks go from here? Do the entertain the Houston Rockets’ offer for Melo, including Ryan Anderson?  That and more, including whether the Bulls will buy out Dwyane Wade’s contract, on The Box Out.
