Tape #2 Side A starts with Dorotha describing life after the war. She focuses much of her story telling on the kids and each of their journeys though school. She shares how her older kids worked their way though college. She shared details of Dick and Gerry's wedding, as well as Jean and Shirley's (Jumbo) wedding. Dorotha share news of the birth of Brian Clarence, Gerald Lyle and Deborah Lynn. She also share the joys of four precious grand babies.
Dorotha also talks of struggles and hard times for the Alderman family. She shares how Floyd lost his trucking company and how they had to rebuild after a fire consumed the family home. Through it all, good and bad, Dorotha expresses thankfulness and gratitude for her many blessings.

Dorotha starts off talking about her wedding shower and establishing her first home with Floyd. She goes on to introduce us to Jean, Dick, Caroline, Floyd (Bruce) and Patricia. She shares memories of each child, including playing baseball and a couple of kids streaking down Neil's Creek Road.
She shares how Floyd was drafted by the Army and deployed to fight the German war machine. She goes into the details of raising a family and living through the Great Depression, including the rationing and shortages of many needs. She shares how they where blessed to have chickens and a family cow named Edna. She shares how she always had plenty and the Lord always provided. The tape ends with her speaking of Floyds safe return and the blessings his service provided.

She recalls national events like the ending of the first world war in 1918 and the beginning of the great depression in 1929 all while telling the story of her education and getting her first jobs as a teacher in a one room school-house. The tape ends with Dorotha and Floyd's wedding in the early stages of the great depression.
