Terrible, shocking news this morning. Andrew Lee, of the Justice and Drew morning show on Twin Cities News Talk AM 1130, passed away suddenly over the weekend.I was in studio with him just this past Thursday, as I had been many times before. It was routine. It was normal. He was vibrant, energetic, and enthused, as he had been every time I saw him - quick to laugh, interested in people's stories, eager to offer help and insight. There was nothing to suggest it would be the last time I would see him.In her post, Samantha Sansevere talked about Drew discovering her, believing in her, and being an advocate and encouragement. I had a similar experience.I vividly remember meeting Andrew at a 'Cocktails and Conversations' event put on by the station many years ago. He had just recently moved here and took over as program director for KTLK. Sue Jeffers introduced me to him and, with her trademark conviction, insisted that I should be on the radio. Andrew gave me this look which I would come to recognize as I saw it many times -- thinly veiled skepticism. He had clearly been presented with many such prospects, and found most wanting. I, like everyone in his orbit, would have to prove myself. But once you did, once you showed him that you had something to offer, once he believed in you, there was no stronger advocate.'Closing Argument with Walter Hudson' happened entirely because of Andrew. When a late evening slot opened up in the broadcast schedule, it could have easily been plugged with syndication. Such is the trajectory of the industry. Local radio is a risk. Syndication makes good business sense. But Drew wouldn't have it. He wanted a local voice on the airwaves. And he fought to bring me in as that voice. It's not something I would have pursued and obtained without him taking the initiative to reach out, offer, and encourage me. And that type of thing almost never happens. It's like a made-up story, where the wise seasoned mentor appears to call a reluctant charge. My ship came in - not ladden with riches, but set on adventure. And Drew Lee was its captain. My heart goes out to his family and friends, Sam and Jon Justice in particular. Knowing how I feel, I can't imagine what they're going through. I pray for comfort and eventual peace, for gratitude and celebration of life. Drew Lee was everything this world needs more of. We're less without him.

Roe v Wade is gone. But our fight for life has only just begun. As with slavery and Jim Crow before it, we must pursue the complete abolition of abortion. Human dignity and worth are not optional. We don't kill "unwanted" people in a moral society. Help us protect life in Minnesota. hudsonformn.com
