Let's have a transparent moment D.A.D'z. The goal is to build strong families, preferably with both parents. However, life doesn't always pan out this way. This inevitably creates ..... Co-Parents. Two different households, two different parents, raising one (or more) children. What does healthy co-parenting look like? What's required from both parties consistently? What are the "rules" for moving on? I had two guests join me on this episode of DJz And Daughterz and we had an in depth discussion on the experience; from a male's perspective.

According to Blackdemographics.com and Census.gov, marriages have been on the decline in the U.S. within the past decades. Black marriages have declined even more than other races. Why is this? Why are so many people taking a longer time to jump the broom? Various factors play into this decline. On this episode, I sat down with three married men. Each one of these men have been married for approximately 10 years. We had an in-depth discussion and they spoke on the aspects they enjoy, valuable life lessons they've learned within their marriage, and dropped GEMS for those who may be considering taking this big step. Tune in and check out what they have to say!

On this Episode of the DJ'z and Daughterz Podcast, I interviewed Dr. Charles Bell who is currently a Criminal Justice Professor at Illinois State University. Dr. Bell is a published author whose latest book titled Suspended: Punishment, Violence, and the Failure of School Safety is providing an unorthodox perspective on school suspensions. The book provides an in depth analysis on just how harmful/counterproductive it can be suspending our students from school as a disciplinary measure. According to Dr. Bell's research, on average Black students in American schools are....
15%
of the K-12 school-age population
38%
of the students who received at least one out-of-school suspension
6X
more likely to receive a school suspension than white girls
4X
more likely to receive a school suspension than white boys
With these statistics, just HOW do we choose the right school for our kidz? Tune in as we have a serious and in depth conversation about it.

On this episode I sat down with Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, Lauren M. Jackson. We discussed how to get the conversation started regarding forgiving our fatherz. Many of us are flourishing in our professional lives, while breaking generational curses raising our daughterz. We understand how vital the role of a father is in so many aspects of our lives. But how can we really break generational curses with built up animosity, aggression, and a lack of forgiveness for our own dads? Let's face it, some of our fatherz have let us down on so many occasions in life. Even when we do give a negligent father the opportunity to repair things with us, instead of doing just that, they usually remind us (through their actions) exactly why we have said issues with them to begin with! It's a losing battle. How do we forgive someone who sees no wrong in their actions? How do we forgive someone who gets defensive and runs from the hard conversations about how their actions have negatively affected us in life? Tune in and let's dissect this!
