'All Night Long' was supposed to drop yesterday but when I created the 30 minute preview — I accidentally overwrote the original. I wanted to finish up the next circuit set I had been working on and pushed the release out to today. The good news is, this weekend is going to be a double-header as I'm knocking these sets out in record time. These days, the majority of my time spent on mixes is the culmination and elimination process. It's a time-consuming and complicated process which I've probably discussed before so I'll leave it there. In the interim, Party Favorz is serving up a slice of what I like to call 'cosmopolitan disco' where the music is funky but overall silky smooth, soulful and with a lot of vocal house. Party Favorz is back with our weekend drop 'Shake It Up Tonight,' which is a massive Disco House set featuring the absolute latest House Music tracks that include NuDisco, Jackin House, Soulful and Deep House grooves for those of you who prefer something funky in your party arsenal. This set had been finished since last week but we had to go back this morning and rework the final transition between the newly released remix of 'Unspeakable Joy' by one of our favorite Divas Kim English to the amazing 'Beginnings' by Don Welch. We had been sitting on that track since August as it dropped too late to get onto our last batch of funky house music. For some of you older folks and/or fans of the group Chicago, this is a really nice House remix of their early 70's pop hit by the same name that charted as a double-sided single with the other being the bigger track 'Color My World.' 'Beginnings' in it's radio format is a nice pop track featuring the horn section Chicago had become known for but the album version lodges into the groups signature alternative rock-jazz-fusion style that clocks in over 7 minutes. This remix reimagines the track in the world of House Music and it's so well done that it had to be the closer for this set. The song kinda flew past most DJs radars but being the musical conisseurs that we are — it had to be included. The transition from the Dr. Packer Mix had a cold acapella ending (which we generally like) but it wasn't working in that the beats clashed with the incoming Don Welch track even though they were in the same key. So, some creative tricks were employed to make the transition sound as seemless as possible and it's not something a DJ would do on the fly but in the studio. Our goal is to provide a seemless experience throughout even if it's not something anyone would appreciate but anal retentives like us (i.e. me when I'm talking in 3rd person). This set was intentionally ginornmous because it's not clear yet if there will be one final Disco House set by the end of the year (though that's the goal). We've got a massive slate of releases scheduled between now and the end of 2021 so saddle-up because it's going to be a wild ride to pack everything in. Party Favorz decided to jumpstart your weekend with the annual Beach House Edition 2021 style! Because of an uptick in music selections, Beach House 2021 is one of the more diverse Disco House sets we've done in a while. Beach House 2021 has everything including NuDisco, Classic House, Jackin House, Soulful and even some Gospel and Reggae thrown in for good measure — with everything sitting on the funky tip. This is one ball of sunshine that should make kicking back around the pool even more carefree. There are some classic Disco samples sprinkled throughout as well as some updated originals. In most cases, the DJs don't use the original titles (for unknown reasons but I can surmise) a few of which will be reprised a bit later with the original titles for the fourth installment of Thank God It's Disco. In other news, we've finally finished the app that's been promised. For the moment, it appears on the homepage on mobile and table at the bottom of your screen. Click on it and agree to install and you've got a near full-blown working Party Favorz app on your device. It does have some limitations in that it does not send out notifications of new posts. Sorry, that's a capability that's beyond our expertise and too costly to pay someone to implement. The nice thing is that not only is it secure, it requires ZERO permissions because we value your privacy. You can also install it on your desktop or laptop through a link in Chrome at the top-right of the address bar next to the ☆ or 'bookmark' icon. It's easily uninstalled on mobile devices but apparently on desktop it can only be deleted. I'll need to research that because it's more than a shortcut, it truly is an app in it's own enviornment. Party Favorz is back and ready to kick-off your Memorial Day weekend with a Disco House party! This set is perfect for your pool parties, picnics and barbeques with friends, family or any strangers that stumble into your weekend fun. While there's plenty of Disco in this set, we're also witnessing a re-emergence of the more classic vocal house from the early millennium and a heavy reliance on housed-up versions of early 70's soul music. It's this blending of styles from various decades that's fueling the Disco House craze that's taking over world. As more people get vaccinated and we begin to slide out of what was likely the most dire year of our lives — Disco is just the right genre we need to leave our worries behind and live a carefree life if only for a fleeting moment. Personally, I'm truly psyched about where this is all heading and have mapped out your summer of music for you. First, the latest Circuit & Anthems set has been pushed back a week (don't hate on me). This will be our annual circuit Pride Edition and while I have more than enough to fill up the set — I'm waiting on some last minute drops from some of our favorite DJs. I've decided to refresh the original Gay Anthems series and create the Ultimate Gay Anthems or Pride Classics (I haven't decided on the naming just yet) but just know it's gonna be EPIC! My Gay Anthems For a New Generation folder is filling up fast so I'm ecstatic about that. I also plan on releasing a Pride Tea Dance set later in the month because circuit isn't everyone's cup of tea and why not have some happy house featuring some of the latest hits and disco classics — then I'll drop the annual Catch-Up featuring the biggest dance club songs of the year so far at the end of the month and just in time for your 4th of July celebrations. I've also started compiling volume 4 of Thank God It's Disco  featuring disco classics re-worked for today's dance floors and have that scheduled for July. Of course we have our annual Beach House, Summer Heat and Summer Edition dropping in July as well. Meanwhile, August is going to bring us the much delayed Ultimate Madonna Collection that got pushed back last year due to unforeseen circumstances. Party Favorz is back with our latest Disco House offering "Where the Happy People Go." This set kicks off with some powerhouse disco tracks that will burn the house down. It then transitions into more cosmopolitan disco (which appears be the rage at the moment) before moving into some great vocal house with the awesomeness of Kathy Brown, Siedah Garrett, The Fog and St. Jude before closing out with Mark White's funkalicious "Supreme." The mix is actually my first draft as I usually knock-out the mix first and then go back and add/subtracts songs, make edits or move things around for better flow on the final mix. Party Favorz is back with our first Disco House set of 2021 and this one is packed with familiar riffs and samples that are bound to have you asking "where is that beat from?" Frankly, there are so many samples tightly woven in these tracks (often more than one used in a single song) that it's hard to keep up. There are obvious ones like "When Love Is Over," which samples "Holding On (When Love Is Over}" by L.T.D. "I Wanna Feel" is a clear lift of "He's the Greatest Dancer" by the Nile Rogers produced Sister Sledge while "The Groove Cycle" could by any song by Roger's own disco band Chic with its familiar guitar work. DJ Mark Brickman's "Got Myself Together" is a reworking of the Brass Construction classic "Movin" from 1976. Then you have the obvious remakes such as the 90's Adeva house classic "In & Out Of My Life," Soul Avengerz and Krysten Cummings re-work the Aretha Franklin classic "R-E-S-P-E-CT" and Block & Crown remake the Al Green soul classic "Let's Stay Together" with Jeff Roberts performing the vocal duties. The latter begs the question as to why no one has reworked the Tina Turner version of this song. It's practically begging for a soulful house rework. Another obvious rework here is the Gino Soccio #1 disco classic "Dancer" by DJ Mark Brickman and Venessa Jackson. Then you have the combos like Crazibiza's "My Lips," which mashes "Don't Call Me Baby" by Madison Avenue with Aretha Franklin and C + C Music Factory gay anthem "Pride (A Deeper Love)" an unlikely pairing that just works. Block & Crown gets in on this game by mashing "Pump Up the Jam" by Technotronic featuring Felly with "Stomp" by Brothers Johnson.. Indeed, there are so many samples contained here some are barely recognizable while others don't bother hiding their appreciation for the originals. It does prove that today's DJs are not just appropriating long lost works (some of these samples are really rare) but honoring all those that came before. It also shows that mom and dad's (in many cases grandma's) music was actually pretty damn good. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that Jason Walker has honored us with two fantastic new songs "All To You," which has fabulous remixes by the legendary David Morales and Georgia Porgie as well as "Stronger" with DJ extraordinaire Quentin Harris that has two sets of remixes accompanying its release. These songs are some of Jason's strongest work and I'm happy to see that he's continuing to gift us with his amazing voice. Party Favorz is back with our final funky disco house shit set of the year and it's chock full of Disco House Music treasures. We always look forward to new music from Purple Disco Machine and his original track with Mind Enterprises "Exotica" fills that void. The songs has a fairly simple pulsating electronic beat complete with a vocoder to give it an 80's futuristic feel. After several listens — it became clear to me that PDM needs to collaborate with Pet Shop Boys for a match made in heaven. It appears this song is not getting the attention it deserves so I'm here to plug it because it steps out of the more progressive work Mark has been putting out for awhile now and drowns us in an ocean disco delights. DJ Meme is back with Inaya Day and Aline Rocha on the wonderful "Satisfy" where Yam Who? reworks the original into a crowd pleaser. There's lot's of classic reworks and samples in this set like Liquid Gold's "Dance Yourself Dizzy" where you'd never know it from the original, Kurd Maverick & The Cube Guys' "It's Not Over" samples the First Choice classic "Let No Man Put Asunder" (more on these ladies coming in 2021), Adri Block & Paul Parsons do faithful housed-up rendition of the Al Wilson Soul classic "Show and Tell" that delivers in spades, and Christopher Williams & Carolyn Griffey remake the D-Train classic "You're the One For Me" with LEGEND Steve 'Silk' Hurley doing remix honors. Hot on the heels of the Bee Gees documentary that debuts on HBO on Saturday, Ian Ossia is back with a total rework of "You Should Be Dancing" bringing the massive disco classic into the 21st century with "Moves At Midnight." Overall, this set much more soulful than previous efforts while retaining its disco roots, which is perfect for escaping from the hell that is 2020. We're not quite done with the year just yet. Lately, Party Favorz has been multi-tasking and about to wrap a month(s) long process of cleaning up the backend of the website and streamlining everything to keep the Google gods happy. I am currently working on a standalone app for the website that you can install on your desktop or mobile device for quick and easy access while receiving alerts about new episodes. Cool, huh? In the interim, I'm bringing y'all the latest and greatest from the disco gods to your happy ears. Let's Go Dancin' retains all the funky house elements of previous efforts but it's much more polished, a little laidback and reminds me of music you'd hear in an upscale bar while mingling and sipping on martinis. There's a plethora of classic disco samples and some reworks along with "Found Love" by Double Dee and Dany. If you remember or haven't gotten to it yet — that was a #1 Billboard Dance Club song from 1990 and recently featured on The Ultimate 90’s House Music Classics [1988 – 1991] Vol. 2. Over the years, it's been updated several times and David Penn spins his 2020 magic while staying true to the original. After having previewed it multiple times — I can assure you discophiles will not be disappointed. The plan is to drop the next Peak Hour set next week followed by (fingers crossed) HW20, which is our annual Dance Club Halloween set. Sorry, no new Circuit Tribal House sets until the Holiday Edition because there's just not enough at the moment and I'm not going to release a set featuring all DJ Dario and DJ Furi Drums who have both become their own automated remix machines. Cool weather keeps making an appearance and leaves just as quickly so it feels like fall and winter are going to be a hit or miss around the southeast. Party Favorz is dropping a pair of fresh Disco House and Chill Out sets to close out the summer season before picking up again in the fall. Disco Yeah represents the finest Disco House tunes of the moment that are bound to sizzle your gizzle with deep-fried juicy beats. Michael Gray kicks off this set with "Take Me Back" (as in Studio 54) with Ian Ossia doing the remix honors. This song is also remixed by 84bit and frankly both remixes are outstanding so it was nothing more than a preference for inclusion. [youtube v="xjp5TifcuoI"] Salsoul Records had commissioned the very talented Dr. Packer to remix several classic tracks from their vast collection and here we get not one but two Loleatta Holloway classics that have been updated for today's new disco scene, while remaining true to the originals. "Runaway" and "Hit and Run" are two of the finest from her repertoire as he's already remixed "Love Sensation." The big one we're still waiting for is "Dreaming," but hopefully soon. Gangs Of Naples & Raffaele Ciavolino sample Loleatta's foray into 80's Dance with "Crash Goes Love" on their "What I Want" — an often overlooked classic loaded with one-liners that have been frequently lifted. Speaking of classics, Angelo Ferreri takes a deep dive into the Joe T. Vannelli and Eartha Kitt dance floor smash "Where Is My Man" and DJ Aiblo delivers a faithful rework of Kool & the Gang's "Too Hot." There's no doubt that Billy Porter has had a massive resurgence the past couple of years and he returns with the UK's Shapeshifters on the glorious House track "Finally Ready." Overall, Disco Yeah raises the temperature with a solid mix of styles that blend together to create a seamless end of summer pool party (even if for only one).
