Krissy the dolphin loves dolphins but has heard some disturbing things about them. Born and raised in South Africa until the age 18, Krissy Saunders is now an active member and supporter of New York City’s LGBTQ community. Krissy is in her early 20’s, but already offers up a strong voice in favor of claiming ownership over your sexuality. She is also a working actor who just closed a month long run of Billie Malcolm & Yusuf at the Castillo Theater. In this episode we talk mostly about the Cubbyhole. For real though if you find yourself thinking “alright enough about the Cubbyhole” this episode isn’t for you because it only gets worse. In this interview, Krissy lies to me about not being tragically hungover due to spending the previous evening at said bar. I saw Krissy on the establishment’s IG story lit af after I left her house 😂 (yes you!!!!). She is one of the funniest people I’ve ever met as well as a very supportive friend to all. If you are ever at the Cubbyhole just know she’s probably there too 😂 Thank you for listening 😘♥️

This is the first episode of Difficult Womxn where we sat down and unpacked SOME of the very complex topic that is body image. I have issues with my body image. Many of you do as well. Most of my deepest insecurities have blossomed from things other people have said about my body. No matter what you look like society will find a way to shame and compare you- I say that from a recognized position of thin privilege. Word choice is important when talking about bodies and everyone has terms they love and hate. Anise identifies with the word “fat” and chooses to reclaim the word. From the beginning of the episode to the end you will hear how Anise freely offers permission to themself and others to be autonomous over our bodies and take charge of the verbiage used to communicate. Anise chooses their name, their pronouns, their circle, their strength building, their expression, their art, their life. On stage Anise moves with DECISION. In person they represent what it means to be a strong, powerful, non-binary femme human and I thank you for listening with open ears to our chat.
