Bipartisan support derailed by ignorance
Amazingly well written but very sad story. The ignorance and complete lack of understanding of how federal government funding works left Wisconsin without an efficient, modern crown jewel of mass transit.

High Speed Trin
I enjoyed this podcast. But it’s pretty biased against the republicans in office during this high speed train issue. And that’s why none of them wanted to be interviewed for it I suppose.

About so much more than trains
I loved how this podcast addresses the larger context and all the complicated ways the economy, politics, public policy, etc played into this specific example of the high speed rail project. Very well done!

Excellent look back
Apolitical and informal retold cold case on a project that would have changed Wisconsin in so many ways. A deeply saddening tale exposing how austerity and small town-mindedness left Wisconsin opposed to change. Thank you

Rail - a be partisan project?
A great example how a self centered narrow minded politician can be destructive to a project that had be partisan support before.

Well done!
As a native Wisconsinite and railroad worker, I found this series to be very well informed. I’m only thru the first four episodes. Can’t wait to hear the rest.

Great reporting riveting !
Very well done. Derailed simultaneously entertained, informed and left me feeling a mix of emotions ranging from maddened that the train was quashed by Scott Walker to optimistic Amtrak may continue to expand. We are hoping to get a train from Duluth to MSP.

Moving Forward
Very disappointing to here this could have been a possibility in Wisconsin and the rails could have been running right now. The opportunities this would open up for people and businesses to get workers if this existed now. Or wanting to visit family in another city within the hour. Very disappointing.

Excellent
They did a nice job telling a story through the eyes of many players. Interesting to look back on an issue that’s still talked about today outside this podcast.

Interesting, but not top-notch
I was very excited for this series, and while it is good, the overall quality falls short of the best public radio podcasts from New York and Chicago. And as someone who has followed the Wisconsin high speed rail story, I don’t feel like I’m learning very much. There aren’t many revelations or fresh perspectives here. Nonetheless, certainly worth a listen.

Excellent Reporting!
Thorough investigative reporting, awesome production on a topic that is relevant to our time. Too bad these visionaries were shut down 10 years ago. Wisconsin could have been ahead of the game.

Fascinating look into WI politics
A very well done piece by Wisconsin Public Radio covering the Milwaukee to Madison train that never was from conception through present day. Well researched, well reported, excellently done!

Journalistic Story Telling
Derailed artfully tells the story of the downfall of the financial and political system that was intended to support a high-speed rail. The journalism and production value of this podcast rank among the highest I’ve ever heard.
