I listen daily and appreciate the work being done. But the clearing of the throat is so distracting and hard to hear I just can’t do it anymore. I hope there is a way these sounds can be edited out for those of us who have sensory issues.

Quality 7am news show that covers the main headlines, I think it’d be perfect to try and keep it as unbiased left or right as possible but a good daily 7am show

I love democracy and listen to it nearly every day. Coverage of the Gaza genocide was/is so important. But I’m disgusted by the complete lack of concern for animals in their coverage, illustrated by the reporting on a slaughter house closure on 9/5. The headline mentioned in the program, “treated worse than cattle” is absurd and horrifying. Are workers killed by a bolt to the head and sometimes cut apart while still conscious? How can people on the left who abhor discrimination based on every other category treat species membership as a reason to ignore suffering on an unimaginable scale? Those of us on the left who recognize animal suffering try to ignore the barbaric attitudes towards animals prevalent on the left and carry on in solidarity (I continue to believe that workers should get better severance packages) but this myopia makes us feel like we are surrounded by suffragettes who support white supremacy or racial justice advocates who want to uphold patriarchy (to put it mildly).

Absolutely love Democracy Now! Best reporting, highest standards, uncomparable news program. If all news in the US rose to the standards of Democracy Now our country would never have any problems.

I’ve been listening and watching DemNow! since their inception in 2006. Unlike Billionaire-Controlled mainstream network and cable news, Democracy Now!, gives us real news. Refreshing from it’s beginning, I’ll always appreciate this news outlet.

I was a former New York Times subscriber, unfortunately. But thank goodness I found Democracy Now, because unlike the NYT, Democracy Now provides in-depth journalism that is unafraid to challenge the Trump admin’s fascist regime and actually acknowledges the ongoing genocide in Gaza. Thank you Democracy Now! Keep up the excellent journalism!

I have always loved and respected the independent journalism of Democracy Now and have trusted their work for decades. Unfortunately, the episode about Iran on 3/2 was a mouthpiece for Ayatollah Khamenei, who is responsible for the murder of 10’s of thousands of his own people by all accounts. This was not mentioned through the whole episode, and they even made this totalitarian dictator out to be a hero! Truly, deeply disappointing take. Painfully one-sided. It shows that your boxed-in ideology is much more important to you than the people of Iran. :(. You are misleading the public who trusts you and takes your information at face value.

I have to gird myself before getting into it but this show reports on events that are important but seldom covered. I always feel torn because the opening theme is an absolute banger and I'm rocking out and then Amy will be like, "state troopers in the capital of Pretendia opened fire on protesters today, killing hundreds…"

Why have you all not addressed and distanced from this man.

Love the content and reporting, but was very disturbed when the cheery background jazz intro continued to play, loudly, over a disabled victim’s account of their harrowing experience with ICE on episode 02/10/26. Maybe consider the tone of the show when editing before you publish. I felt this was insensitive and inappropriate.

You won’t get this level of depth and journalistic integrity from mainstream media outlets in the states. Amy, Nermeen, Juan and all of their amazing, dedicated colleagues bring real, objective news that speaks truth to power in a media environment that feels increasingly dangerous to those dedicated to truth and justice. Keep up the good work, friends. You are my North Star.

Perhaps the best daily news roundup podcast available. Thorough, expansive, and ethically-responsible while remarkable accessible. An excellent alternative to Up First or The Daily. …that all aside, seriously, change the opening music. It feels so incredibly tone-deaf to be listing the latest slew of war-crimes and assaults to democracy over a backdrop of a jazzy upbeat ska-funk band.

Four stars for the content. Four stars for filling in the many many gaps left by legacy media. Four stars for having a Young Lord on the show, and for all the work Juan Gonzalez does. Four stars for the decades of work Amy Goodman has done. Minus one star for all the times Amy has yelled over a subject to put words in their mouth or interrupts them to flex her knowledge of a subject instead of just letting them do the talking, wasting valuable air time in the process. At times she is just an awful interviewer.

People are still denied an honest perspective of 10 7. According to the UN Office of Casualties… which was tracking all conflict deaths prior to 10 7, more Palestinian lives were ended in 2023, before 10 7, than all the Israeli lives ended in the preceding TEN YEARS. These were largely from Israel’s “mow the lawn” policy of unprovoked attacks. Two happened just a couple days before, during the first week of October. This is a shocking statistic that needs reporting. It demonstrates the scope if the ONGOING assaults on Palestinians and the horror they were dealing with. No need to reference the conflict 5 or 10 years ago to demonstrate Israel’s brutality. This is also a statistic that Israel does not want people to know as it illustrates that Palestinians really had no choice but to defend themselves as well as to fight the occupation with force, as is allowed under international law. Without knowledge of this statistic, Israel will continue to perpetuate propaganda that the attack came out of nowhere and label it t***ism. Besides the law clearly stating it is not, the statistics show exactly who the t***ists are (The Irgun T***t Group, so designated by the US and UK, renamed the Freedom Party, then renamed Likud). In the same situation, Americans would fight back as well. To clarity another fact, often misreported by other media, all adults in Israel are conscripted. There are essentially no adult civilians. Contrast that with Palestinians, 99%+ of whom are true civilians. Please, any reporters reading this, go to the UN casualty site and confirm this for yourself. There are charts of the casualties on both sides created from this data available online. Then report it and let’s dispel the illusion that remains. Facts are never political, and no solution can work that is not grounded in truth.

Trump is restructuring our national debt by selling off our nations assets ie gold, land, citizenship, and bonds. His goal is to increase the value of his bit-coin and family wealth while devaluing the dollar. There is no grand plan in this administration. They are fumbling around trying to keep up with his self dealing. Telling us it’s all part of his plan. Trump’s off the book international family dealings are treasonous. Meanwhile, T. is building personal wealth and we [citizens] sit dumb founded and paralyzed with fear. The SCOTUS won’t stop him. What can we do?

I have been listening to Democracy Now on community radio stations since 2010. So long that I recognize it the moment that first funky jazz beat drops. It’s my most trusted US based news source. I appreciate that they now also have an app where you can read the headlines if you want a break from listening.

My go to news source for the past 20yrs. I started listening to Democracy Now on a regular basis in college 2005. Trustworthy REAL news about the world and state America is in. Unbiased truth telling telling. Thank you Amy and crew for putting yourselfs on the front line of the terrifying new era of America where they are starting to attack truth. Professional, unbiased news. A classic, they’ve been doing this since the 90’s. I listen to other daily news shows but this is the only I always listen to, without fail, every day. You get the main stories each day, followed by a few deep dives. Excellent interviews as well.

Dear Amy, please interview Greg Palast on his analysis of the actual 2024 election results. His recent work shows that definitively the state level voter suppression this last cycle disenfranchised vastly more votes than Kamala Harris would have needed to beat Donald Trump. Most of the votes thrown out were by African American, Hispanic and Asian American voters. Palast new documentary is called Vigilante

Our planet is rather chaotic but on Democracy Now I can depend on our anchors to cover. There isn’t extreme propaganda to face beyond regular levels of capitalism we’ll defeat one day.

When reporting on trumps stupidity and lies I think it is not necessary to play him speaking. Please can’t you just quote him?

I have listened to your radio program for many decades. I stopped listening to it because it is only focused on news from Europe and not incorporating news about Mexico, Central America and South America as it should be highlighted more prominently. You need to incorporate more of this news because it’s impactful to us in the United States directly, and it also overlaps European news. Over half of your show should not focus on news from only Europe.

Poignant. Seared my soul to know the real consequences of a war of extermination by one who survived and lives to write poems as a lasting testimony of a suffering people. Amy bashes Elon Musk and praises media matters for manipulating ads. Amy ignores the excellent reporting of independent journalists like Michael Shellingberger, Matt Taibi, Katie Halpern, Briahna Joy Gray. Aaron Mate, Max Blumenthal, Glenn Greenwald and so many others. So sad that DN has evolved into just another liberal propaganda mouthpiece for the Dem Party. Todays episode on attacking RFKJR through innuendo and unfounded claims was the last straw. Why not interview RFKJR or at least read his books before all the childish ad hominem attacks? Amy calls everyone that goes against the Democratic Party narrative a conspiracy theorist. Such lazy journalism led by interns.

On today’s show 10/24/24 Juan’s audio was emitting a high pitched noise and just had overall bad sound quality. So much so that even though I wanted to learn more about the topic I unfortunately had to stop listening.

I’ve been a regular listener to DN for almost 20 years. Unfortunately, since the attack by Hamas on Israel, DN has degenerated into fetishizing the Palestinians cause, providing a relentless torrent of accusations against Israel without even the pretense of being balanced. Simply put, this program is too credulous when it comes to such accusations and, in the process, seems to be positioning itself as a professional left perpetual outrage machine. As such, it is increasingly undermining its credibility and, as a result, does little to advocate for thoughtful ways to address the horrors of the actions by both Israel AND the antisemites that wish to kill Jews and destroy the state of Israel. This program needs to pull back from acting like a Palestinian News Network and be more sober about a very complicated and tragic situation. It can start by not bringing on histrionic observers and move toward more thoughtful commentary.
