Japanese electronic music mainstay Gonno is back with another quality EP in the form of Taiwanese imprint JIN’s 8th release. The label, which usually focuses on dancefloor oriented 4/4 from Asian talent, has featured many prominent artists from the region including Mr. Ho and Sunju Hargun. JIN08 consists of 4 tracks, 3 Gonno originals backed by a Voiski remix. The B2, Arabica, serves as a beautiful ambient closer, serving as a perfect complement to the preceding three tracks, juxtaposing all the emotions from the other tracks with the melancholy and nostalgia that comes at the end of a fun night out. Just over a year after the release of Boaksi's acclaimed album "I Thought It Was Yesterday" on Zürich-based label Project Indigo, the imprint returns with an exciting remix collection that showcases a diverse array of talent like Lawrence, noc:turne, Louf, Jvxta, Soela and Al Zanders reimagining the original tracks. Our premiere for today is a remix of the title track by Lost In Translation co-founder noc:turne. The remix maintains the atmospheric beauty of the original, characterized by lush pads and a gorgeous melody that carries the listener on a journey. What sets this interpretation apart is noc:turne's meticulous use of percussion – crisp hi-hats punctuate the track, adding an evolving sense of tension that builds throughout. Following on from his acclaimed debut album 'T.O.M.B', Los Angeles-based Australian artist Luke C. enlists Francis Inferno Orchestra's Sans Merit, Mayurashka and AshTreJenkins to remix some key cuts of the album. AshTreJinkins is a Fresno-California-based producer who self-releases a wildly inventive collection of singles and releases via his Bandcamp. AshTreJinkins masterfully reimagines 'Tripping On Mescaline (Baby)' with a slow-burning approach that unveils its nuances over time. The track's tempo is a canvas for the trippy vocals that paint vivid and enigmatic imagery. This rendition embraces subtlety as its greatest strength. "Anam Cara" by Gilmer Galibard (GAL 002) is inspired by the Gaelic term "soul friend." The title track of this beautiful 3-track EP explores the complexities of friendships and marks the second release of the label named after the UK-based artist. It emphasizes mutual respect, effort, trust, honesty, and the necessary work to maintain healthy and nourishing relationships. "Anam Cara" is a contemplative downtempo piece that also incorporates elements of the deep, hypnotic techno that we adore so much. At its core is an intriguing modular exploration that gradually unfolds throughout its seven-minute duration. Various intimate murmurs and bubbling elements complement this exploration. The recurring percussive sounds create a sense of beating hearts and evoke the multidimensional emotions associated with friendships. Deep friendships are often characterized by unspoken understanding, connections formed through sharing experiences or thoughts. “Anam Cara” beautifully resembles that entanglement in sound. The things that connect the different layers are sometimes not obvious, spoken in a language without form, that cannot be named but are always with meaning. Hazy auditory tendrils surround the soundscape as our premiere for today, Scheveningen, brings forth an emotional ambient take from the likes of 543ff. Based out of Amsterdam, the elusively named artist has recently launched his new label, ‘Lazy Reflex Complex’ with a string of vinyl releases, before heading into the digital world with his forthcoming release, Num. For those not aware of Dutch geography, Scheveningen is one of the eight districts of The Hague, located right on the sea. Which makes the ebbs and flows of the textured white noise and field recordings all the more apt, and bring a delightful context to the track.
