Dissapointing
I listened to the host on another podcast and was curious to get his and his wife’s analysis of the LC trial. I listened to 5 episodes. Unfortunately these episodes are not very substantive and tend to include a lot of rambling. I think this could be a really interesting and informative podcast if the host was more organized and able to stay on topic. Disappointed.

Aug 2026 - 73 episodes in
When a podcast has 13 seasons, I would anticipate being safe to listen to a whole season 2… what a surprise to get 73 episodes in and then it just stops. I want to know what happens at the end of the Garcia case, but it seems by these reviews that I’ll probably never hear the end. So sad.

Why are seasons stopping short?
I have loved the Anthony Garcia and Avery seasons; however, they stop before the season is complete. Avery ends at 711…in the middle of the story and it even talks about “the next episode”. Where is it? Love you guys, but I feel lost not hearing the end.

Podcast/Lawyer Grifters
Started out with Buried and it was a legit entertaining series and put together pretty well. After that series the co-host couple started down the money hungry path and deviated from actually caring about the product they put out. I mean season 2 (3 years for one series) has still yet to be fully completed and they are ranting and raving about tens of other cases they want to get involved in and talk about. Gross

All Around Fantastic
I have listened to probably more than my fair share of true crime podcasts, and sampled many different shows and styles; Bob was a guest on the 12th Juror, I believe, and I really liked his style, so I listened to the Lori Vallow season. Like Ali, voices are a make or break for me, and both Bob and Ali have great voices, great inflection, obviously they’re not reading off a script. The back-and-forth is great (and they are adorable how they talk to each other), and I personally love the deep dive; I prefer it over a 45 minute overview. I love that they have so much educational information in here as well, so I’m not just learning about the case itself but also the process, purpose, and the thought behind what is done from the judge and lawyer’s standpoint. Love it, gimme more.

Unorganized inconsistent
Really wanted to like this podcast. The season about gacy with all the insight was fascinating, but now it’s gone…Then got hooked on season two, but instead of finishing a season these guys go on to something else, leaving a season without an ending. 4 years to finish 1 season but you have 11 other seasons? This has to be a joke…

Gotta listen for yourself; reviews were hijacked.
This podcast host took some serious heat for unpopular positions on a few murder cases. After being outspoken about those positions, all of a sudden there were slew of one star hate review reviews. Interesting that. Season one was retitled I believe, the Gacy Tapes. Season two is about the conviction of Anthony Garcia. I’m listening to season two now, it’s a fantastic deep dive. Exactly what I was looking for. This is not a one sided defense of Anthony Garcia, it’s a thorough review of the case. The host IS a defense lawyer and subsequently represented Garcia. So I was actually surprised how fair this podcast is. They humanized everyone, cops and suspects alike. So if you’re looking for a short, get your blood boiling podcast, this is probably not it. If you like detail details and comprehensive case studies, this will be up your alley.

Disappointed
Not everyone can podcast and be a lawyer. Time to focus on one or the other and stop giving both a half hearted attempt. The actions of this lawyer are despicable both in court and in claiming the innocence of the most clearly guilty horrible people that there are. Never finishes the series, and cares too much about his own involvement in “famous” cases than spreading true and accurate information.

Pathetically Biased
I was a huge fan of Bob’s in the early days, when he at least seemed to be open to objectivity. I just listened to his commentary on the Marilyn Moseby / Adnan Syed circus, and Bob has lost the plot. Worshipping the professionalism and integrity of Marilyn Moseby, declaring that Syed is definitively not the guy and speculating about how many millions he would win for his wrongful conviction. If all Bob did was read the Moseby motion, he should still have realized that Moseby was desperately trying to curry favor with the public by releasing Syed, and maybe her motives were not the furtherance of justice. Bob is willing to believe the worst about cops and prosecutors, perhaps with good reason based on his professional experience, but at the very least that experience should have given him enough wisdom to read EVERY court filing with an eye toward the motivations of the author. His blindness (at best) or fundamental dishonesty (at worst) undermines everything Bob has to say. I’m done.

Please finish Garcia
Still not finished and it’ll be 4 years in March. Episode 70 is complete filler. I’m 20 minutes in and you just keep repeating that the judge disallowed the Alleles, but if you let Dr. Reich say he was excluded, then the prosecution can use the Alleles. Over and over and over. WE GET IT. You have said it about 12 times. Zero effort or you think we are all too stupid to understand. You could have this podcast finished if you’d stop repeating the same thing over and over for the entire episode. You really aren’t helping the reputation of defense attorneys drawing things out foooorreeevvveer.

I can’t believe I listened to 68 episodes of the Garcia murders. We got to the trial and then…crickets. I stopped caring now. Bye

Disappointed
I came here because it was recommended in another podcast and came exclusively to listen to “The Gacy Tapes”. Boo!! The whole season is gone, it starts with season 2.

Awesome- please try to show new episodes first
Hello, Below find all my positive comments but I am reviewing simply to ask can you fix the settings of your podcast so that new episodes are listed first? Now that I’ve made my trivial request, as a fellow attorney, I respect your coverage of this case. While it impossible to develop a bias, your coverage is fair, never pretends the defense case is stronger than it truly is, and articulated in an entertaining method- please consider practicing as a defense attorney again- the practice needs all who care. Thank you for your podcast!

Season 2 ? 🦗🦗🦗
I have given up hope on season 2 being completed in my lifetime. All of the promises to wrap it up soon and then all of these other episodes and seasons coming while you haven’t finished what you started. Just be honest and tell us that you have no intention of finishing it.

Trash spewing trash
Update. The more I hear you on other podcasts the more convinced I am that you are either the biggest grifter on the planet or the stupidest person on the planet. No one could be as consistently wrong as you are and not be one or the other. Either way, it’s giving The Viper Pit Podcast great content. You should give it a listen. 😉 You are a disgusting couple profiting off murderers. Being on Bob Ruff’s show even lost him listeners and he’s trash too. Hilarious that his listeners hate you too. That’s pretty bad.

Listen over and Over
I’ve been listening over and over in between new episodes. This is great!

Finding the New Episode is a Nightmare
Content is great! Finding the new content is a chore though— if I’ve stopped listening for a few weeks, I have to dig thru every season to find the latest episodes to catch up (even if I’m sorted by “newest”). It’s not a simple *filter by unplayed and scroll down five episodes* like other podcasts. Please address this :)

Straight facts: best podcasters ever
Thank you for all your hard work to bring the stories to us. Bob Motta is simply the best! The Gacy series is second to none!

Not great, DNF on Gacy
I tried to get into the Gacy Tapes but the host isn’t compelling and the tapes themselves are a slug fest. I threw in the towel after 3 episodes

Ya'll out here doing good work!
My mind has completely expanded and my perspective has shifted because of the meticulous detail ya'll put into each show. Understanding the role, purpose, and importance a thorough defense plays in persevering our constitutional right to a fair trial has balanced my view of the justice system. Bob, respect, my man!! You are a fantastic story teller! Your dedication to sticking to, as much as possible, evidence and sworn testimony is amazing!! #NoWayToHeresay

Bob Motta is superb
What a gem of a podcast!!! I stumbled upon this one the summer of 2025 so I was 4 years late for the Gacy Tapes but WOW what great reporting…and from a lawyer! I actually recognized Bob’s name from the podcast Murder on Songbird Rd and I really enjoyed his viewpoint and insight. So I knew I’d like this one too but WOW! Such great interviews and storytelling and just the right amount of humor. Bob is really funny actually. Highly recommend!!!

Incredibly Informative

You can hear the culmination of pride, dedication, and perseverance come through.
Bob Motta does a great job dictating this podcast. I can hear how much the tapes meant to him through the speaker. It’s almost as if the hamster wheel is on an endless cycle of trying to understand “NARCISSISM” in its purest form and the incessant squeak of the wheel is begging for its WD-40. Getting inside the mind of serial killers has been one of my all-time ADHD obsessions and I’m here for it. Thank you.

I have learned so much about the law and justice system. I started with the Gacy episodes. I watch the YouTube channel as well. Keep up the good work!!

I love this show!
This show isn’t your typical read from a script podcast. They have such a great perspective and knowledge of the shows they cover.

Love their perspective and the chemistry
What a gold mine the Gacy tapes were and are. I love the unconventional narrative that points to police misconduct in order to gather probable cause in one case while being so lazy and dismissive in all the other cases. A deep dive that is incredible and thoughtful. All the other cases DD covers are also enlightening. The chemistry with Allie is perspective, knowledge and banter worthwhile.

Best Real Podcast
Best and most informative podcast I’ve ever listened to. I couldn’t get enough. Listened to all episodes. Really compelling. Insights were amazing. I will listen to all of their content going forward. Amazing!!!!

The Best
If you want true crime, you want it from Bob and Ali. Period.

Trying to follow some stories but it’s all a jumbled, out of date mess.
A smart, no-nonsense analysis of cases. So why interject dumb jokes and awkward attempts at comedy? And please, please quit awkwardly, clumsily saying “y’all” a thousand awkward times per show. Often extremely biased towards the defense side, which you’d think they could avoid. Otherwise excellent.

Love!
No one does a better deep dive into cases!

I’ve given up
I was enjoying season 2, but they’ve obviously given up on finishing the season. It’s a shame as it’s the best season they’ve done. They seem to have focused instead on lightweight coverage of trials on YouTube. The Mottas offer interesting insights from the point of view of defense counsel, but they don’t seem to be able to resist moving to a new project when a new trial begins. I wish they could follow through and finish what they start.

Season 2?
Wha happened??!! Miserable track record of dropping episodes for Season 2. Interesting story, but from a defense perspective it seems that all alleged criminals are innocent and the police only use “tunnel vision” to solve crimes.

Great pod!
22 ep in and im loving the info so far. Thanks so much!

Love hate relationship HA!
Can we get back to season 2 and finish? I just moved to Omaha and want to hear the unbiased version.... lol Love this podcast! I didn't listen to season one because Gasey freaks me out. Started with season 2 and with the other 5 that follow. Love the view he gives loosely quoting "every defendant deserves to have their constitutional rights defended, guilty or not" The part I hate... season 2 isn't finished and the seasons with the other cases being finished before season 2. Every time it pops up in my feed I'm like YES!!! Only to be deflated and see it's for a different season. lol my brain can only track so many pod casts by one author at a time 🤣🤣🤣

Needs focus
I’m giving DD 5 stars because I really enjoy Bob and Allie’s take on cases but I would like to beg them to finish a season! Running around after too many topics is distracting and without focus it’s hard to remember what is going on. Recommend committing to one topic for a season to finish it and then possibly changing the format of the show to be a more “current events” type of thing if that’s where the passion lies. Also I really wanted Bob to pursue the unknown Gacy victims but given the many squirrels chased since the end of the first season I very much doubt he’ll ever return to that. Finally, even if none of my suggestions are taken, PLEASE can you more regularly and timely put up podcast versions of your YouTube lives? I have to believe I’m in no way the only listener to have no time for YouTube. Thanks!

It’s called Defense Diaries
Had to update once I listened to the new Garcia episodes. SO GOOD. SO accurately describes my experience as a criminal defense attorney— second hand stress and anger just listening — and so many of the issues are similar to what we are seeing recently in Allen and Read. Pretrial publicity tides are hopefully beginning to change! For all of you complaining about the Delphi coverage, it’s called Defense Diaries. It’s fantastic to finally have defense attorneys perspectives while covering true crime — such a unique podcast for that reason and can’t believe nobody thought to do this sooner!

LOVE IT!
Can’t say enough! Educational and down to earth. Provides the insight to behind the scenes. This should be on every true crime buffs feed. Keep up the good work! Can you do a season on the tragic case of Riley Fox out of Will County?

Confusing
Great podcast! But really confusing about seasons, episodes, releases. . Gods from season 10 to 28

Love it!
Bob & Ali are a great team. I appreciate their working relationship & the respect they show each other. They choose interesting cases and dig deep. Their explanations of matters of law and descriptions of case details have really helped me understand more than I knew before. I look forward to the next season.

Disappointed
I started out really liking this podcast with the Garcia case. Then it all just went off the rails and Bob quit in the middle of the story. Next he started a new case about Avery. Did he finish that one? Nope! I guess Delphi became the cash cow so he jumped to that case. I’m no longer interested in any of it so time to move on.

Can’t do ancient recordings.
Gave up on Season 1 Gacey. Podcasts are audio experiences. If the recordings are low quality the host might put an effort into easing the audience pain by reading the most pertinent content. Rewind, play, rewind, play…. Geez, I don’t get what he said.

Absolutely love it !!!
Absolutely love it. It is informative, interesting, and keeps me on the edge of my seat every time and I wanna throw my phone every time I hear “and we will talk about that on our next episode..” anyway funny moments here and there. I love the fact that you talk about that there’s like a blanket warning if you question the police or their integrity that are you sure you wanna do that tread lightly the one time was you better come correct meaning you better have exactly what you need. If you’re gonna challenge the police in a way to say they’re not doing their job or they planted evidence or whatever anyway also one less thing you impression of the judge, the first judge in the Anthony Garcia case reminds me of Colonel Sanders every time I hear it I see Colonel Sanders anyway love you guys keep it up.

Season 1 was excellent
I've been listening for awhile now. Season 1 hooked me. Season 2 also excellent until it came to a screeching halt... No one wants to re-listen to an entire season of 20+ plus episodes when one episode finally drops after months and months. I understand that Delphi is a current case and a lot is going on, but what makes zero sense is to start yet another deep dive into Steven Avery 🙄 before you even finish YOUR OWN CASE?! Make it make sense. And speaking about the Avery case... I find it a bit disgusting that Bob and Ali are implementing the family of the VICTIM as being involved in the cover-up. And all for the sake of framing Steven before they even knew Teresa was dead. 🤨 Then going a step further to say "if you came here expecting us to blame the cops for the murder you came to the wrong place" then continues to implement the cops in the murder. Get real. If you are going to implement the cops in a frame job BEFORE they even knew Teresa was dead you ARE implementing the cops in the murder!!!! It's quite disappointing. Richard Allen is guilty!!!!!!
