Episode 026 - Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Peter and Cody really cannot wrap their heads around it, but it has been one whole year since the Deep Bass Podcast recorded it's first episode, and what a journey it has been. What better way to celebrate than to cover a game with the largest soundtrack they could find? At over 1,000 songs, this was the biggest soundtrack they've listened to, and at over two hours and 15 minutes, the longest podcast they've ever recorded. Not too bad to cap off the first season! In this episode, Peter and Cody talk about the last year, including some of the best and worst moments of the podcast. Then they dive into SSBU, talking about their history and (reluctantly) picking their five favorite songs. This was incredibly challenging, given that every track on the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate soundtrack is legitimately a gem! There are a few other hidden gems that make this their most content filled episode to date. You won't want to miss it! Question of the Episode: If you had to pick five tracks from the SSBU soundtrack, what would they be? Tell us over on Twitter @DeepBassPodcast, or stop by the Discord and hang out: https://discord.deepbasspodcast.com/ Also, to celebrate this milestone, we've released shirts and hoodies! You can pick one up right here: https://merch.deepbasspodcast.com/ And as always, thanks for listening, and we'll see you next season! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/deepbasspodcast/support

Episode 025 - Hades
Escaping the underworld can be hard. But at least if you're going to do it, you should have the composure and good looks of best boi Zagreus! In this week's episode, we talk about the music from yet another beloved title from the minds at Supergiant Games: Hades! Composed entirely by Darren Korb, we are presented with a soundtrack unlike any other in games that we've covered, and it does Hades much justice. Roguelikes are certainly not Cody's forte, but Peter tries his best to convince him that if he plays only one roguelike ever in his life, Hades should be that game. Does he succeed? Take a listen and find out! Question of the Episode: Which Olympian gives you your favorite ability to use in Hades? Tweet us @DeepBassPodcast, or join the conversation over on Discord: https://discord.deepbasspodcast.com/ Buy the soundtrack on Bandcamp: https://supergiantgames.bandcamp.com/album/hades-original-soundtrack As always, thank you so much for listening! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/deepbasspodcast/support

Episode 024 - Pokémon Black and White Version 2
Unova is in danger again and instead of Team Plasma it's... Neo Team Plasma? Ooookay then. Peter and Cody sit down to talk about Pokémon Black and White Version 2 which neither have played, and both are highly confused about it's existence. Their personal opinions aside, they dig into over 120 tracks to find their top five and talk about their history and experience with Pokémon, as well as Peter's completely healthy and normal obsession over Pokémon Go. Composed by Go Ichinose, Hitomi Sato, and Teruo Taniguchi, does the Pokémon Black and White Version 2 OST hold a candle to the flame of the past four generations? Take a listen and find out! Question of the Episode: If you were introducing someone brand new to the franchise of Pokémon, which game would you start them off with? Episode 023 - The Last of Us
If your country was ravaged by an infection that destroyed most of the nation, turning major cities into barely livable encampments, and where the militia will kill you for stepping foot into areas without proper certification, how would you survive? In The Last of Us, Joel and Ellie survive on hope, their growing friendship, and really, really bad jokes. But they're totally worth listening to! The Last of Us was a major hit on the PS3, and saw a remaster on the PS4, but while you'll hear a lot about the story, gameplay, and graphics, one thing we don't hear much about is the music. Composed almost entirely by Gustavo Santaolalla, we are presented with an outstanding score that would knock most cinematic full length films out of the park. Outstanding from beginning to end, this is one episode you are not going to want to pass up on. Question of the Episode: If you could take one video game or video game series and turn it into a movie/TV series, what would it be? Answer this by tweeting @DeepBassPodcast, or stop by our Discord and hang out: https://discord.deepbasspodcast.com/ Grounded: The Making of The Last of Us - https://youtu.be/yH5MgEbBOps Purchase the OST here: https://www.amazon.com/Last-Us-Gustavo-Santaolalla/dp/B00CDSIMI4/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=the+last+of+us+ost&qid=1619762759&sr=8-1 As always, thank you so much for listening! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/deepbasspodcast/support

Episode 022 - Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble
Rounding out the beloved Donkey Kong Country trilogy, Peter and Cody sit down and talk about Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble, which brings with it a very new sound that compliments this game. This is to be expected though, when David Wise took a back seat to allow Eveline Fischer a chance to compose most of the tracks herself. But does this late SNES era game hold a candle to the monumental titles that were DKC and DKC2? You'll have to listen to find out what we thought! Question of the Episode: In DKC3 (or any game, really) what were your favorite and worst stages you have ever played? Episode 021 - Luigi's Mansion
Okay so it may not be spooky season, but after our discussions about Luigi's Mansion, do you really need an excuse to play such a charming game? We think not! In this episode, we bring on James Fluker, a fellow streamer and co-host of the Elbow Rocket podcast as we talk about a game that Peter hasn't played before. After listening to the soundtrack, he regrets that decision immensely! Composed by Kazumi Totaka and Shinobu Tanaka, we are pleasantly surprised that this game doesn't take the typical approach to a "horror" game and finds a way to bring us funky, fresh, and all together fun tracks to listen to. Take a listen as we talk about our experiences (or lack thereof) of this game, and share with you our top five favorite tracks from the OST. Question of the Episode: What game OST has caught you by surprise after you listened to it for the first time? Answer this and chat with us on Twitter @DeepBassPodcast, or join us on the Discord: https://discord.deepbasspodcast.com/ You can find more of James over on Twitter as well: https://twitter.com/Elb0wR0cket As always, thank you for listening! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/deepbasspodcast/support

Episode 020 - Harvest Moon 64
Peter and Cody had a pretty crazy week during the last episode, so they decided to switch gears and slow things down with a game that is near and dear to both of them: Harvest Moon 64! Special guest Anna Marie Privitere joins them as she shares her vast knowledge of the series, as well as her top five favorite songs from this game. Composed by Tsuyoshi Tanaka, The HM64 soundtrack blends many different instrument sounds together to create a vibrant, on brand soundtrack fitting for a farming life simulation that isn't quite captured in any other style of game. From banjos, to tambourines, to flutes and accordions, there's a wide variety of tracks you will not want to miss on this episode. Question of the Episode: What was the first Harvest Moon game that you started with? You can answer this and talk about Harvest Moon 64 with us by tweeting us @DeepBassPodcast, or dropping by the Discord server where we are always talking about games: https://discord.deepbasspodcast.com/ If you want to talk with Anna Marie more about Harvest Moon, or just games in general, you can find her over on RPGamer (https://rpgamer.com/) or you can say hello on Twitter @amprivitere. Episode 019 - Red Faction: Guerrilla
In this episode, Peter invites a long time friend of his, Duran a.k.a. Intr3pid, onto the show to talk about a game that is near and dear to him: Red Faction: Guerrilla! Little did we know that we would be covering a game that both Cody and Peter have never played before! We are marching through new territory here, but it was fairly easy to do given that this soundtrack, composed by Timothy Michael Wynn, Jake Kaufman, George Oldziey, Dan Wentz, and Raison Varner, was absolutely stunning in so many ways. We also have a first here at the Deep Bass Podcast: 15 songs picked and not a single one overlaps another! Join us in another musical journey as Peter, Cody, and Duran talk about their history with Red Faction as a series, and share their top five favorite songs from the Red Faction: Guerrilla soundtrack! Question of the Episode: If you have played this game before, would you recommend this to anyone who plays games, or just to fans of the Red Faction franchise? For those who haven't played, was this episode enough to get you interested in the series? Answer this and talk about the episode with us further on Twitter @DeepBassPodcast, or join us on the Discord server: https://discord.deepbasspodcast.com/ To find out more about Duran, check out his Twitch channel: https://twitch.tv/intr3pid_1914 As always, thank you so much for listening, and please don't forget to subscribe to the podcast wherever you are listening to have notifications let you know when each new episode has dropped! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/deepbasspodcast/support

Episode 018 - Final Fantasy XIII
Being branded a l'Cie means being purged from your friends, families, and loved ones. But what happens when six adventurers band together, all branded as well, to try and put a stop to the purges and rescue those they have lost? Final Fantasy XIII is born! Composed by Masashi Hamauzu, FFXIII marks the first mainline Final Fantasy game to not feature the work and oversight of Nobuo Uematsu. But does Hamauzu have what it takes to fill the massive shoes that Uematsu has left? Join Peter and Cody as they welcome Corbin Rogers, a long time fan of the Final Fantasy franchise and superfan of the XIII trilogy, discussing the history of Final Fantasy XIII, their memories and first exposure with the game, and of course, the music that comes with it! You may have heard mixed feelings about Final Fantasy XIII across the web, but this episode is sure to confirm that this game stands tall among the rest. Episode 017 - Undertale
Nyeh heh heh! An indie sensation among gamers everywhere, Peter and Cody decide that their podcast wouldn't be the same without covering the wonderful Undertale... except there's one problem: Cody has never actually played Undertale! For that, we knew we needed some help with this one, so we were happy when we were able to bring Bridgette a.k.a Brooklyn from the Block on this episode with us to try and convince Cody that he needs to play this game? Were we successful? You'll just have to listen to the episode to find out! Undertale was developed almost solely by one person, Toby Fox, and what he was able to accomplish in this game musically is mind-blowing. Travel with us to the Underground as we explore our introduction to the game, talk about what makes this game so special, and dive into our top five songs from the official soundtrack! Warning: listening to this episode will fill you with determination! Question of the Episode: Who was your favorite character from Undertale? Answer this and chat more about this game over on Twitter @DeepBassPodcast, or drop by our Discord server: https://discord.deepbasspodcast.com/ If you'd like to chat with Brooklyn more, you can find her over on Twitter: https://twitter.com/bklynxbridge Last but not least, to purchase a copy of this fantastic soundtrack for yourself, you can find it on Bandcamp: https://tobyfox.bandcamp.com/album/undertale-soundtrack --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/deepbasspodcast/support
