We're all going to die. Is that a scary or unnatural feeling or thought to you? Preparing for end-of-life is a lifelong process. That doesn't mean talking about it or thinking about it all the time. It means that, in a death illiterate culture we must become death-versed in order to approach it with less apprehension or fear and more understanding and preparedness. Join death doula Carla LaBrosse as she discusses the death and dying experience with love, compassion, reverence and humor.
On Having Conversations with the Dying
In a North American culture that despises aging and avoids the topic of dying and death at all cost, how can we prepare to speak to our loved ones who are at the end of life? How do we think about conversations that we ourselves will want to have when our dying time is near? In this episode of Death is a Discussion, palliatherapist/death doula Carla LaBrosse starts the conversation with the basics: Myths about talking about death and talking with the dying Important do's and don'ts when we are talking with those at the end of their lives Things we absolutely should say and harder conversations that we might not want to have, but should. Carla also shares some death planning questions she uses in making end of life plans that you should to ask your again loved ones so that you can both prepare for the experience to come.
