Wonderful and intriguing podcast
From the initial episode, this has been such an interesting show to listen to. Ashley is an excellent host and has a knack in opening up her guests to describe vivid food images and feelings . I look forward to listening to this show weekly to ‘go back in time’ with the guests to their past memories and how this has impacted who they are today.

This Podcast Will Transport You
I love this show so far! It’s a great way to be transported via podcast to different parts of the world and be immersed in the food culture wherever the guest takes you. Eleanora Baldwin is such a great first guest and I can’t wait to see where we go next!

Dear Food
It was love at first hear! This podcast about Italian food transported me back to my childhood. We were the French/Irish family in an Italian neighborhood on the west side of Cambridge, MA. It was so Italian that the yellow lines, normally found in the middle of the street, were actually the colors of the Italian flag. Sunday dinner at my best friends house was 8 courses. The food was delicious, but I would leave so stuffed I felt sick. If I refused to eat anything, they took one look at me and tell me to mangia! mangia!, then tell me I was too skinny and that I ate like a bird!!! To this day, I have yet to find gravy as good as they made back then. I treasure these memories, which your podcast just awakened. I look forward to your next one!

Love @ First Hear!
If You Liked ‘Ratatouille,’ You’ll Love This Delightful Exploration of the Emotional Side of Food
With Dear Food, host Ashley Chaney sets out to “connect with the emotional side of food,” and she delivers. Full of candid, heartwarming, and personal tales of the foods that not only warm our bellies but our hearts as well, Dear Food is a love letter to food and how it connects us to the memories of our lives. Remember the climactic scene in the movie Ratatouille when critic Anton Ego drops his pen dumbfounded after tasting a dish that transports him back to his childhood memory? It is this type of emotional connection that is so delightfully explored in Dear Food, starting with—coincidentally—a European food critic who shares her first memory of tasting a sliver of hard Parmiggiano-Reggiano cheese softened by a sip of Marsala wine with her grandmother when she was a little girl. The mouth-watering descriptions of the flavors may draw us in, but it is the important connection of this particular food to her personal history and identity that keeps us captivated. Savoring this unusual combination of differing regional Italian cuisines is a personal ritual before each meal, and the taste and smell takes her back immediately to her grandmother’s kitchen: “I am with her.” Don’t be fooled by its lighthearted, conversational format—Dear Food packs intense emotional punches that will catch you off guard, just like in Ratatouille a simple country dish can unexpectedly reignite the cynical critic’s passion for food—and for life. Listen and learn why “food is love,” and I’m sure you will love the Dear Food just as much!
