For its S16 Alpha Round (taking place from January 17 - 31, 2023 with the brand new Gitcoin protocol), Gitcoin has created 10 Climate Solutions Bundles that group some Grantees by project type. Contributors will then be able to donate to the bundle as a whole and then the sum of contributions and matching funds will be distributed between all the projects within the specific bundle.
In this episode we talk to some folks from the Emerging Economies and Indigenous Communities Bundle, which states in its Grant page that:
"For its Humanity must choose to either embrace economic transformation or continue down the path of destruction, desecration and resource theft via war, infringement and oppression. We see many people, worldwide, standing up to denounce the latter. The mission of these projects is to steward and lay the foundation for emerging economies and indigenous communities that are built on the principles of abundance, knowledge sharing, trust and an intimate connection to our fellow human beings, nature and ourselves."
So hit play to lean about some of the people and individual projects in the bundle.
And consider donating to it.

In this episode we have received Joshua from the Metagovernance project. In his second appearance on the show he has given us both updates on the development of MetaGov as well as his takes on the future of digital social interactions. Amidst that we have also explored how the MetaGov project is structured with regards to its org design and we have talked about some of the inspirations behind the project. And of course some of its flagship initiatives, like Gateway. Most excitingly Joshua gave us details about the MetaGov DAO and its current call for proposals, which seeks to upscale and upskill the metagov community by incentivizing collaboration among the members of the network. We ended the episode by elucidating the importance of the human factor or the "interior dimension" of governance.
This show had two firsts:
It was the first show with real-time mapping as well as the first co-hosted show. We were lucky to have the integralist practitioner Jakob Possert as a steward of the conversation, with his bright insights and beautiful shirt! This is his website and this is where he is practicing integral theory.
The conversation has been mapped on a sticky note dashboard and you can visit it in order to vote for the topics that you found most relevant. We will use this as feedback to steer future episodes. You can also find a video recording of this conversation at DAOcast's youtube channel.
For all of that, this was a truly grounded inspirational show!

- 'DAOcast has returned!' \(>")/
- 'But it has never gone!' (>")
Yup, this seems like crazy talk. But hey, the world did flip inside-out/upside-down in 2020, so who knows who is right?
The fact is that there is fresh energy orbiting DAOcast. Fresh energy springing from taoDAO - an experimental DAO framework centered around cultural patterns, as opposed to technological tools. A DAO whose purpose is the co-creation of regenerative multimedia content. Or better yet, as Vinícius puts it in this episode: “It’s not only to produce regenerative content. But for you, yourself, to have a regen experience for your life, so you can report on that. So you can share that.”
Since taoDAO's inception DAOcast has been one of its main channels, so it was only a matter of time for these two initiatives to begin a fusion dance, whose outcome is unknown. In fact, the outcome is up to us to co-create. Yes, you and me.
Tune-in in order to better understand all of this non-sense and if anything resonates with you, don't hesitate to get in touch.

In this episode (amidst the corona crisis) I met Max, Victor, and Johann from DEORA.earth, who shared a lot of cool things around what they are building and how they are doing it. An approach that differs from many of the things we see out there.
For example, we talked about one of the first test drive they ran with their tech, collaborating with the German political party Volt and testing quadratic voting with real users, in a pretty clever way! It was nice to hear about a DAO tool being used with non tech people.
We also talked more about Quadratic Voting, DAO integration and, of course, leapDAO. Overall, an enjoyable conversation with builders who seem aware of what they are doing. Thanks, guys! And I hope to see your podcast on the street!

“As communities grow, as they get more complicated, they need more and more complicated rule sets and mechanics to deal with the problems that inevitably arise. And what we want to do is provide a set of shared natively cross-platform tools that allow people to plug and play different kinds of social and computational mechanisms.”
In today's episode, we receive the computer scientist & Governance Crusader Joshua Tan, from the Metagovernance Project. In a very friendly chat, we explore a bit of what goes on behind the curtains of MMOs (Massively Multiplayer Online Games), and how the dynamics from virtual world can lead to valuable insights for governance in general.
We also explore Cyber-physical systems and how they have been understood from different communities (e.g. the DAO movement and national agencies). More interesting yet, we talk about the difference between discrete (computational) and continuous (physical) systems, and what that means for digitally mediated governance. And much much more, such as:
More governance Complexity
Online Communities growth and adaptive coordination software
Collective Sense-making
Collective Feeling
Modular Politics Paper
What is the best abstraction to understand how people do Collective Sense-making?
Action Situation - formal game (game theory) used as way to understand how people make choices/work together to make collective decisions.
What are the action situations that exist online?
How can we improve governance in DAOs and in the internet as a whole?

"And I think only a decentralized organization will be able to grow the largest exchange."
Happy 2020! The year has begun very early for DAOcast!
And to kick things off, we received Will Harborne, founder of DeversiFi and one of the initiators of necDAO.
Will 2020 be the year of the DAO? We are about to find out, as we have explored in this episode. Moreover, we had the chance to go over the intricacies DeversiFi and NecDAO, including:
- A bit on the back story of DeversiFi and its origins with Ethfinex;
- Examples of previous experiments in decentralised technology;
- The why behind NecDAO, it’s purpose, what it is constitutionally designed to achieve and how much funds it will launch with.
- As well as where these funds came from and how NecDAO will work, diving into the technicalities.
So, overall, the conversation was a good start to this year's work, opening up opportunities for the larger community to engage with another resourceful DAO. Tune in for the Nectar and if you have any questions, let Will know.

"DAO to Earth" is an inquiry based project that seeks to further understand the experience of participating in a DAO, and how this new framework for organizing relates to the world we’re currently living in.
It was funded by the Genesis DAO through Alchemy (DAOstack's first DAO interface), and it is comprised of 9 interviews with Genesis members. It is hoped that this series will function as a DAO-knowledge library for current builders and future explorers of the dawn of DAOs.

“The only thing I have to say is that state is an illusion created by the process of making a statement.”
The DAO to Earth series has reached its final episode!
This journey has never been about where it would end, but about the paths it could cross. In that sense, it has been a beautiful ride. In total, 9 unique conversations with builders of the DAO space, with topics ranging from the experience of participating in a DAO, to the meaning of this way of organizing in the world we are living in.
A big shout out the Genesis community who has embraced this experiment (and funded it)! It has been a pleasure to engage with you in conversation that have expanded what we know about DAOs, distributed organizing and, ultimately, ourselves.
For the final conversation, we received Felipe Duarte, creator of the DAO Canvas and DAOfest. He was also in the final episode of DAOcast’s first season, which brought a really nice touch to the end of this cycle!
Once more, our conversation has been dense and intense. Speaking from Puerto Rico, Felipe shared many news about the festDAO and DAOfest, including its edition in Puerto Rico and the token economics around this distributed network of events. Spoiler alert, it is worth volunteering at DAOfest! We have also gained a historical perspective of Felipe’s life in the blockchain/DAO space, as well as the creation and use of the DAO Canvas in different contexts.
Finally, we arrived at a discussion about the fundamental driving forces behind human creativity, as well as the wishes and needs around it. Such a philosophical jamming is always open-ended, but it did allow us to explore assumptions that, ultimately, influence our engagement with DAOs. Therefore, this was a great way to finish the episode, and the series!
A big thank you to all of you who have contributed and followed the DAO to Earth saga. To me (Danilo), it was honor to pilot it! And I look forward to other similar opportunities!
“This is the end. Beautiful friend. This is the end”

> “The legal agreements would reflect what the DAO was doing and not the other way around.”
For the first time in DAOcast, we have an episode where guest is host and host is guest. Jordan Ellis, one of the co-founders of dOrg, kindly agreed to be the host of an episode of the DAO to Earth series and invited his peers to join this experiment. The result? A distributed conversation among dOrg members about the functioning and purpose of this pioneering DAO.
As usual, we covered a lot of ground:
- The inner working of dOrg, which seems to have managed to amazingly balance trust and trustlessness in its internal dynamics.
- The interface between dOrg and other organizations, both legally and culturally speaking.
- How dOrg became the first legal DAO to ever exist, without loosing what makes it decentralized in its essence.
- How to be part of and/or help dOrg grow.
- The next steps for Web3
A juicy episode, that sheds light on many of the subtleties around distributed dynamics, both internally and externally. More importantly, an episode with substantial experiences from pioneers who have made things happen despite challenges.
A big shout out to our host, Jordan Ellis. And our guests Ori Shimony, Hector, and Cesar.

“From my experience with hip hop, it's all about the experience of being there, the vibration of the crowd.”
One amazing thing about DAOs is that they attract all kinds of curious mind, with very diverse backgrounds and ares of expertise. This episode with Hip Hop artist and cultural producer Jason Vandal is the perfect example of that.
“Growing up in the heart of Chinatown, Downtown Toronto, Jason fell in love with Hip Hop in the 80’s and would Breakdance on Queen St. for spare change with his childhood friends and was always eager to put on a show.” (Vandal's Biography)
Since then, life has taken him to live and perform in many places around the world. South East Asia is the bioregion he has been the closest to, choosing Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, as his home.
As a rapper, community builder, and producer, Vandal had many reasons to experiment with decentralized technologies. Steemit was his window into this world, leading up to the project “Hip Hop the Blockchain”. From there, Vandal has discovered the world of DAOs and is now in the process of on-boarding into Alchemy and Genesis.
We talked about all of that and more in our chat. With his very unique perspective, Vandal told us abut the parallels between Hip Hop and Blockchain, some of his disillusions with both movements, his experience as a newcomer of the DAO world, and the way he sees Wu-Tang Clan and Taoist Wu Wei philosophy giving rise to the DAO of Wu.
Indeed, a unique episode!

"You know, we don’t need to start anything actually, we just need to empower the people that are doing it."
In this episode we are joined by Luuk Weber, entrepreneur and net-weaver of the DAO movement in the Caribbean. In the show, he shares his experiences with community building and event organizing around blockchain and crypto in the region, leading up to the creation of the Caribbean Blockchain Network, the organizing of different events, and the launching of the CuraDAO, a community owned (and governed) social impact fund for the sustainable development and overall betterment of the Curaçao island.
We also discussed what it takes to DAO in regards to profiles of people currently more likely to engage with this technology, drawing upon Luuk’s experience with onboarding, of himself and others. On that note, we also hear about his experience joining Genesis and his impressions on it technology and community.
A very interesting point that Luuk brought up in this conversation is how reputation within a DAO could be better leveraged than what it currently is, especially in regards to dynamics happening outside the digital world and/or password management in collectives.
And, of course, we dived deep into the experiences of CuraDAO and DAOfast Amsterdam, both of which have been co-initiated by Luuk. Since the interview, CuraDAO has launched its new website and taken steps towards its ambitious vision of catalyzing social change in the island.
