In our latest episode, Adam is joined by Sue Schilling, CEO of Alopecia UK🌟
Having been first diagnosed with alopecia in primary school, Sue found her way to Alopecia UK when she lost all of her hair in her 40s. She says that on reflection, losing her hair challenged her to find her strengths, and that despite it taking a while to get there, she knows she's a better person and has developed a kinder outlook on the world.
In this insightful episode, Sue shares her leadership philosophy and the values that guide her work. Sue emphasises the importance of meeting her team where they are, fostering
circular love as a core value, and building rooted connections in the workplace. She discusses the multifaceted role of a CEO in a small organization, wearing different hats and juggling various responsibilities. Sue finds energy and purpose in engaging directly with the community her charity supports, organising events, and providing support to individuals affected by alopecia. She highlights the transformative impact of creating safe spaces for people to embrace their identities without fear of judgment. Sue also reflects on her experience of the Barefoot Coaching Training Programme, sharing the significance of tools like perceptual positions in her work with young adults.

Episode Six: Make a Change to Make a Difference with Karl Perry
All aboard the ‘coach-acoaster’. In this episode, Adam talks with Coach and Author Karl Perry. Karl’s route into coaching wasn’t straightforward. After being forced to close his well-established business due to COVID-19 and dealing with a personal loss, Karl experienced a cardiac arrest at home. It was this series of events which found him living what he describes as his ‘third life’, a life in which a simple conversation with a friend using Barefoot’s Values Cards, led him to our door.
At the time of recording, Karl had just completed the Barefoot Coach Training Programme, an experience which he describes as being like riding his very own 'coach-acoaster'. Whether you are thinking about training as a coach, or if you are in the process of training, this is an episode not to be missed.
