I’m a fan of Dan, but this podcast seems to be “All Bears All the Time.” I would like to hear more about the White Sox.

There is such good stuff here when it comes to sports, but not sure why these smart people could think anyone wants to hear about their children’s pedantic sports achievements or what fish they most recently caught. Here for the intelligent sports takes but the rest is just tired narcissism.

DBU shows why podcasting is the perfect medium for all of your favorite radio personalities. Dan and Matt can now be themselves in the best way possible: talking sports without the distraction of useless callers, going “off-topic” without corporate guardrails blunting their passion, being themselves without oppressive sponsorships (or the FCC) directing their every word. If you were a fan of their work on The Score, this is the show you wish their midday show was.

Dan Bernstein is a triggered loser. Not sure why anyone would listen to his show.

It is clear that Dan’s inaugural episode about how he “worked on himself” was all smoke and mirrors. His hate and vitriol for anyone who disagrees with him in any facet of life creeps through more and more each week as he regresses back to his angry and spiteful true self. He could choose to unite people sticking to sports but he can’t keep his politics and opinions out of anything and remains more divisive than ever now that he can “go blue” on a podcast format.

Who do you have a problem with today Bernstein? Is it ok to call you by your last name or are you entitled to tell any of your few followers why that’s offensive? All. About. Him. Feel bad for MA who’s really talented and deserves better. Go away Dan

Rife full of bigotry and hatred. Just an abysmal listen. Sports is the last thing talked about on this podcast.

If you want to listen to someone with very little knowledge other than sports, than this is the podcast for you. He is a flaming liberal and spews the hate the left promotes. Not worth your time.

Insufferable

This show exemplifies why I have fallen in love with the podcast form as terrestrial radio shuffles gently into that good night. I count Dan’s dismissal from The Score among my darkest days wrt my access to funny, smart content that shares my ethos. This is up there with the best work of Dan’s career, and I’ve been a P1 of his shows since 2002. (Full disclosure: having Matty and Team Lodge references back in my life may be producing a halo effect here, so please take my thoughts with an appropriately sized drain of salt!)

Gambling advocacy with occasional sports conversation. Would listen regularly with a subscription option that eliminated commercials, in-show ad reads and sponsored content masquerading as organic banter between hosts.

Just wanted to say how thoroughly I enjoy the show. I’m impressed by your combination of fire and passion and John Dewan-like encyclopedic knowledge of analytics regarding Chicago sports. My beef with other Chicago sports shows, is they do not have the tools or stats to entertain listeners week in and week out. In addition, you both are the ultimate team players. I predict this show will be at the top of the charts very soon, and I mean it.

Been a fan of Bernsie since I graduated college in 1998; it was the classic Boers and Bernstein team. By cracky, Larry Horse is back! I took a break from sports radio and WSCR after Sox hit toilet and some of my own personal situations. I was at gym and remembered I wanted to hear him talk about the Bears and then learned all about the “situation” in March. This is better anyway. The Score was holding him back!

Long time Boers and Bernstein fan. It’s so great to have Dan and Matt back in my sports-listening life. Perfect pairing and a daily must-listen for me.

I’ve been a relatively consistent Scorehead listener since the summer of 1992. I think I’ve turned The Score on once since DBU went live. I don’t see that changing.

I loved the AFDE pod and Dan Bernstein is very important to me. I also always loved the idea of these two idiots having a long-form platform. This is perfect. No notes.

My brother texted me to ask if I’d heard your new pod and I told him I haven’t heard any of that. I didn’t hear all of it. I heard a lot about most of it, but what I did hear, I did not hear any of that.

I am loving this pod so far! I was a B&B listener in college, about 2009 to Terry’s retirement. I didn’t know how much I missed the show till I heard Dan and Matty back together. It’s my new go-to for commuting home…sometimes I can’t wait till then and I start it over lunch.

Tried to listen, but Dan is as insufferable as ever.

I've been listening to Dan on the radio for 25 years and he always been a fan of his humor and intellect and sports takes. I'm really happy he's back with this podcast but I have to say there is WAYYY too much Matt on the show. Matt should be there to produce and set Dan up with quick and occasional time on mic only. He's just not a polished sports radio host, he constantly interrupts Dan with really lame and basic jokes, and stunts the flow of the show. Matt seems like a nice guy but he should be talking 85% less on this podcast. Just being honest as a long time Score and Bernstein listener.

I’ve listened to Dan Bernstein for over twenty years. The guy makes me laugh. He’s being sarcastic half the time and people take him too seriously. There’s no denying that he’s an incredible vocabulary. He’s made mistakes (Who hasn’t?) and now he’s back. Good for him!

Don’t take this wrong but Dan I always thought you were a jerk. But the mental health and getting to hear your journey I’ve enjoyed your show listened to all the episodes over the weekend

I currently don’t have a lot of time in my life to listen to sports radio and things have kind of deteriorated in my former regular go to’s in that arena so this podcast is an absolute godsend for me. I go back to 1999 listening to B&B on my lunch break, trying to hear this show through limited radio signal sitting in my truck on AM radio in Macomb, IL. It started there and my my fandom began. Definitely missed Dan, who I respect eternally for his candor and knowledge, for the short time he was off air, but having Matt back as well is an absolute treat and treasure. I really missed you, Matt. I’m writing this as I listen to Terry on the show and for one podcast, B&B is back and I never thought I’d ever hear that again, so thank you, so much. It gives me absolute joy to hear you all again together. I’ll be listening to every episode and Forward Progress as well. Thank you, thank you. Glad you bad mofos are back, in force! I am elated. And the biggest bonus is you are unfiltered. Forever a fan, JG

So excited your back on the mic! Honestly, I didn’t know how much of a fan I was until you were fired by The Score. I kept listening, but it just wasn’t the same. Something was missing. And it was you! So happy Matty is with you too. Appreciate your honesty on your first show about what happened at The Score, and you taking ownership of your wrongdoing. It takes a big man to do that. Looking forward to your brutal honesty going forward and continuing to hold Chicago sports teams and their owners accountable to the fans.

Great show it’s good to laugh again. Gorte with boring Marshall will not right the sinking midday show.

I love that Dan and Matty are back together again. Dan is always great to listen to with strong points and good arguments. He can be annoying sometimes though, and I think what really makes it work is when someone calls him on it. Matty was always the best at that on B&B so I’ve been loving it so far and can’t wait for more guests scheduled!

B&B was one of my all-time favorite shows. Great to listen to Dan again as he provides great insight, and the pairing with Matty also works so well!

Where’s Larry Horse and the Manometer? Perhaps Manteno? Also, could be Mankato, given the new connection to Minnesota?

Bernsy needs to go back to the nursing home. Who let him out?

This literally the last hour of B&B on Fridays. It’s unhinged, dumb, and a blowhard on a milk crate and I love it. We are just missing a Bob and Bonanza references. It’s back to what I remember and loved.

Outstanding host. I’ve been listening to Dan for the last 23 years. He’ll leave you smarter about the sports you care about so that you can have more enjoyment as you learn more about the game. Irreverent and hilarious too so you can have a nice reprieve while listening.

670 is much better off without his constant political victimhood schtick. Hilarious to see that he’s relegated to some obscure podcast now. This guy STINKS.

Finally I can listen to sports talk to and from work. I get that Dan can be difficult, which I’m sure he would agree on, but I feel he has come a long way over the years in terms of his temperament and ego. Back when he was with Boers he was way over the line a lot. I admit, I didn’t like him at all at first. But he grew on me and got a lot better. I absolutely cannot stand meatball sports opinions and homer-ism and Dan has always been realistic. Not to mention I like to hear from someone who also generally follows other teams and can give good opinions on other teams players. It doesn’t make you any less of a Chicago sports fan to be realistic, and Dan is one of the few who is. It’s good to hear from Matt again too. The only thing I would like to see added to the Podcast is some kind of way where the listener can be involved and give their opinions. Whether it be taking callers (I know Dan would probably cringe at hearing that) or adding a text line or a direct Twitter or Bluesky page. I understand a lot of calls, if not most, are bad. But at the end of the day some of the most memorable radio at 670 has involved things that have come from phone calls. I just wish there was a way to be able to communicate with them and give opinions and ask question’s. So many times when listening to them I want to add something to the conversation and I’m sure so many others do to. I know the show is about his opinions, but sports generally involves strong opinions from many people and debating them is a huge part of it.

Thoughtful and fun conversation about a variety of topics. Glad to have Dan back! Great change of pace from the shoutcasters and people taking uninformed contrarian opinions for clicks. Larry Horse sez listen to this podcast!
