As if done by amateurs
While the hosts often remind us of their bona fides as former racers and journalists, this nominal podcast, about a dying sport ruled by white men, is remarkable for its lack of insights, painful jokes, and the struggles of host Abbe Micke to use English in a coherent manner (she makes up at least three words per episode). Cannot recommend to anyone in good faith.

First review, needed to leave it now
I will give Nerd alert all my attention and five stars if James Huang stays as helming it. With Caley as the face of this podcast, it was mediocre at best. There were often times where this podcast is aimless rambling with bad sound quality and people who’s voices are so compressed it’s hard to understand. I’m frankly glad Johnny has left the podcast as I didn’t feel he brought much to the podcast other than ANOTHER British voice to cycling.. if you fire someone, maybe you should take their face off of your podcasts.. just saying.

When it rains it pours
The 5 stars is to hopefully boost the morale of the crew. I’ve been a longtime listener and overtime it seems they get more and more miserable every episode. Complaining about life and work in every intro and Abby always annoyed at everyone else. I understand the podcast isn’t the main part of your job and can get a bit redundant but no one wants to listen to a podcast with a “When it rains it pours” attitude.

Cycling around and more plus | Thrace-Face C._F.D.^2
The equipment reviews are objective and fair. The Paris-Roubaix episode was really good, the sounds of the race captured are very cool. This podcast has a lot to offer. It’s uncanny but true that Caley, Fred Dreier and Fran Drescher are, in fact, one in the same person: Thrace-Face. Are Abby & Taylor also one & the same? Who’s swifter on a bike? What’s up with the faces? Jose is the press officer for Lefevre??? Ya’ll had the best Tour de France podcast of 2022, well done! Oh man, this is a good podcast…. I will miss Caley et all. Since the big employment purge you all have gotten 65% funnier.

Without Caley, it’s lost its way. And I’m gone.
If you want a British podcast about cycling, I can think of a few others that do it better. I remember the final velo news podcast where Ben Delaney was paired with some board stiff English dude. Predumably his new boss. The following week, Ben and the pod were gone. Nothing against our brothers and sisters across the pond, but… Sadly, I’m kinda done with this pod. No dis to shoddy, but….. that’s all I’m going to say other than, what a waste.

Caley is building something better there. Agree, Outside is bad.

Never great, now in decline
Was always less of a news show and more like a group of hardcore cycling fans hanging out. Good takes but very little original reporting other than what any fan can read online. Plus excellent tech coverage from James Huang, the best in the business. We’ll see what happens now that Caley Fretz has been let go. Outside should probably remove his face and name from the podcast image.

Outside+ is bad
I gave 5 stars because I like the podcasters and their knowledge. I don’t like what Outside+ is doing to cycling in general. I’m sorry that Caley has been fired.

Not the same without Caley
CT was my go to cycling podcast. I recommended to friends on a regular basis. When the folks got silly (which was often, Caley crafly brought the podcast back on point. He added salient points to subjects and was a well spoken and logical thinker. I’ll give the surviving folks a few tries but so far not so great. Amy is a far cry from the professionalism and sense of humor that was Caley. I get cost cutting but it seems like Outside dismissed the higher paid employees. Perhaps their pay was commiserate with their experience and knowledge level? There are lots of cycling podcasts out there. Good luck Outside

great podcast
Very thoughtful and informed podcasters and always current.

Good pod , but what is with arrogant, know it all Caley Fretz
That ridiculous sigh and exhale, not to mention how he’d make fun of and ridiculed some Pro riders like he is a God given specimen on the bike. Why is he acting like he is the only one who can host the podcast.

Tuesdays discussion on Time Trials
I generally enjoy the podcast, however, I felt that the final discussion of whether or not you would do a follow up podcast of The Vuelta was snarky. I would think with the talent you all have that you could find interesting subject matter regardless of the stage. I have been watching the coverage as much as possible and look forward to the varied podcasts that cover cycling.

Loved the TdF series
I don’t usually listen to this, but caught the pod during TdF and found myself laughing along to the great conversation and insights on backstories. So plan to subscribe, even so, I’m going to note that when I got to the Stage 21/Stage 1 episode about half way through it just dropped off a cliff. Just seemed like a lot of uninteresting, disconnected comments, that were peppered with lazily mispronounced names of people, teams, and places.

Great combination of tech, racing and content. Hosts have great chemistry, very entertaining

Babbling? Random de Tours?
Listening to your Tour Podcasts everyday—one of my favorites BTW. I am enjoying the in-depth banter about many things not so race related. This is fun and refreshing. Next year you should take a Podcast listener with you to experience what you do first hand. They could learn the craft and then on the last day file their own pod report/story for listeners. Start a random drawing contest where listeners donate set amounts of money (5-10-20) lottery tickets. AWL proceeds go to a charity of the Podcast’s choosing. I listen to you and The Cycling Podcast every day. Sometimes I listen to “Voldemorts” pod to get insight from Bruyneel about tactics etc. But their banter at times is like a real warn out vaudeville routine. Oh and I do listen to the Nerd Alert pod and Freewheeling as the Ladies are so much fun & sassy at times. VeloClub member and satisfied customer-oh and the reason I started to listen to your pod a few years ago, Voldemort said you were one of the best…. So long partner(s)!

Amazing heating tips
I tuned in to hear in-depth cycling analysis, but I ended up getting so much more, like a deep dive on the traditional peat-based heating methods of Ireland. Much better than hearing the 100th analysis of how Jumbo can team up to put Pogi under pressure!

Really miss Dane
So heard the news that Dane was fired. Given that he was one of my favorite people on the pod — the others being Abby & James — I am sad & the pod (as well as the magazine) is far the less for it. I’m especially puzzled because now we have had new people - Kit, Johnny (?) — instead. Why? Dane was great and actually was knowledgeable & liked road racing. So ugh. I used to like Caley but over the years, he seems to just dislike road racing & just be endlessly snarky.

Favorite Cycling Podcast
I’ve sampled various cycling podcasts over the past few years and CyclingTips and Nerd Alert are the only ones I find myself coming back to. I’ll miss Abby when she’s away for maternity leave — she really has made the show gel and is really the only one who can control Caley.

Love It!
I’ve learned so much about all aspects of cycling from listening to this podcast. What makes Cycling Tips so special though is the banter between the cast! They take their cycling seriously but have a great sense of humor about it. Keep up the great job (and congratulations Abby)!

Fun listen from time to time
Their grand tour podcasts are good. Weekly pods are low in QC but hosts seem cool. Listeners be warned: Jose is the press officer for Lefevre and this is not disclosed at any time by CT.

Maybe I’ll keep trying…
I’ve tried a number of times over the last two years to listen to the podcast and I just can’t bring myself to finish an episode.I feel like this is one of the more cynical cycling podcast, and that’s saying a lot. I feel like they waver back-and-forth on the knife edge of purposeful ignorance and being total know it alls. I’m trying not to bash as I know this is just my opinion and everyone has there own taste. This just isn’t for me. Maybe it’s because I’ve been around bikes to long doing my first race 30 years ago and having had parents who met at a bike race.

My favorite cycling podcast
Love this podcast, especially from an entertainment aspect. Not only are the various hosts very knowledgeable and provide great analysis, but they are also great personalities. The chemistry, banter, and conversation makes me feel like I know them all personally and it adds so much to the already solid bare content

Great topics, but…
Great topics, but way too much needless banter. There are maybe 10 minutes of solid material buried in an hour-long podcast.

QC seems to be slipping
Tried the pod for the TDF coverage after stepping away for many reasons. It’s gotten worse. Seek your pro cycling coverage elsewhere.

TDF coverage
Please work on your levels. I know people are in different locations, but you can still get the levels a little closer and tell certain members of the team to do a better job of speaking louder and clearly.

Trans athletes need to participate as one of the two genders they were born with
There is no logical, medical or science based reason for your views, concerns or for this episode. Trans is not a gender and sports can be participated in without controversy or danger to anyone by sticking to your birth gender lane with no interference in the way you want to dress.

Thank you!
Thank you for the thoughtful “muddy waters” pod! Well done.

Stick to cycling please
This podcast used to be good, now it’s just trash! Stick to cycling and not try to influence people’s political and moral opinions. I’m tired of your crappy episodes that feature trans, BLM, or other political topics. I don’t listen to you for a political views, I want humor and news.

Great Overall, But Too Left Winged
Love the show overall, but the constant liberal rants and conversations should be cut out.

I’m finished.
Sorry, team. In a crowded field of strong Cycling reporting and podcasting, and only 24 hours in a day, I’m through with Cycling Tips. I looked the other way when Jose felt the need to spout off on our election last year. For the record, our former Pres is a clown and I never voted for him. But the episode on Arkansas and their proposed legislation simply goes too far for me. You lost me in the first minute when Caley used the term “horrible” to describe the proposed bills. Is that unbiased journalism or personal opinion? It’s the latter. I thought Chris’ points were well thought out and I did listen to the episode. Cycling opinion? Great. Love it. Political opinion? Sorry. And, no, I’m not some anti-LGBTQ right-wing fanatic. I wear my mask. I support many “causes” with dollars and hours. I live right here in Colorado (a transplant) and I think our governor is great. I like my sports podcasts to be sports podcasts. So, you guys do what you’re doing and I’ll take my ears elsewhere. Thanks.

This is a great (second to the Cycling Podcast) show until....
Abby starts to comment on matters (Boonen/road cycling “rules”) she has no idea about. Those cycling gods and rules are why we love the sport! I’ll continue to listen, but a member of your staff needs to dive into the foundation of road cycling and what makes it the best! I think a member of the staff needs a copy of Velominati-Keepers of the cog. 😉 Thank you 😊

Thoughtfully Done Content
I really appreciate how purposefully the whole team takes the their work. Engaging in both the obviously lighthearted sides of the sport/industry and also purposefully showing light on the more “real” parts. Impressively done.

Great way to start the week.
I love this podcast. With a great cast.

Can’t make it all the way through
I’ve subscribed for going on 2 years. The combination of Boulder-bro, hipster doofus attitude and stereotypical personalities is just unbearable. Here’s how I came to 2 stars: James is 4 stars. Technically excellent and concise. Dane is 3 star. Truly competent. Dave is 2 star. Only there for the accent. Abbey is 1 star. Because last year she was 0 stars. Caley 0 stars. 10 stars divided by 5 regular hosts = 2 I’m unsubscribing.

Nelson Vails Interview
Let me begin by saying, I love your podcast and have been listening to it for the past couple of years. However, in your most recent podcast, it seemed like the Nelson Vails interview was just doing lip service to your diversity quota. Right after the interview, there was no commenting on the information given in the interview. You guys just skipped to the next subject like the interview didn’t even happen. There are many people listening to the podcast who probably do not know who Nelson Vails is. He is a national icon and a great person who can help bridge cycling’s image of being a white man’s sport. He talked about some art work with Alex. I am a fan of Nelson Vails and do not know what art work he is talking about. I plan on doing an internet search, but you as journalists could have expanded on the interview. I am saying all of this as constructive criticism and letting you know how the podcast came off to my ears. We talk about diversity but we can’t just give it lip service. Earlier in the podcast you guys gave Tao Geoghegan Hart kudos for putting his money where his mouth is. I was hoping you guys would have done the same. I couldn’t imagine what a young black bicycle rider listening to this podcast would have felt. Off my soap box. Thank you for all of the amazing content you guys bring every week. Sincerely, Jaime Rojas

caley fretz film critic/debate feedback
Good podcast but Caley Fretz has questionable taste in movies, BMX Bandits is in no way as good as Breaking Away Seriously I love the podcast but just can’t listen to the “debate feature” I find it stressful to listen to (clock noise is terrible).

Broad Coverage of Cycling
This show covers a lot of areas in cycling. Not just racing or riders. Bikes. Components. Tech. Riders. BOTH women and men. A range of experience, expertise, and personalities means it’s never boring for me.

It’s like talking cycling with your friends
This podcast is a great mix of cycling from news, tech and issues from predominantly the road and gravel scene. Great banter among the presenters that makes you feel like your talking to your cycling friends after a good ride. Highly recommend this and the Nerd Alert podcast which delves deeper into tech news. There is also the Freewheeling podcast from CT that focuses on the women’s peloton and issues directly impacting cycling from the female point of view.

Quality
Just listen to my first podcast, thought this production was well-made and had an interesting format. Loved the variety of subjects as well as the in-depth analysis on the pro peloton. Great job everyone. You’ve drastically improved my commute and left me thinking about cycling all day. Keep up the great work PS I found the audio mixing incredibly well done considering everyone seem to be in remote locations. It didn’t sound like a hacked together zoom call audio Mongol.

An informative and fun look into cycling culture
I’m relatively new to the world of competitive cycling and this podcast has really helped me understand the basics of the sport as well as get to know some of the finer points as well. I love the feel of the podcast as I’m listening, I truly feel like I’m sitting around the table with the guys and chatting about the weeks racing news, highlights, and the latest tech. Great work, fantastic quality content, I’m always waiting for the next episode. PS- I love the addition of Abby and Jose and the focus on women’s cycling. We need more coverage of women’s cycling. One request- I’m predominantly a roadie, however, I love mountain biking as well and there’s lots of exciting things happening in the world of MTB. Could we cover more of it on the podcast?

After your call for reviews, as a regular listener, figured it was the least I could do since I enjoy the Podcast weekly. Best American Cycling Podcast. Always happy to see a new episode in my feed!
