A dystopian look at society and certain people who live to grow “spare parts” for the chosen. We are getting closer to this in society. We should be afraid

While I wasn’t adopted, my father grew up without his father and never really knew much about him. Ancestry DNA helped me find him and also my father’s half siblings-who were so open and wonderful. We now see each other several times a year and I’m so lucky to have found them. I’ve done genealogy for over 10 years and love helping other’s connect with lost loved ones or “family. I love listening to the two of you. Your banter makes me smile and I love when you go off on tangents!!! Thanks for the laughs and for always reminding me why I love genealogy and DNA. ❤️I feel like I’m listening to two of my best friends when I listen to you. So much love.

First the hosts have a great conversational style which makes it Very easy to listen to. I’m not adopted or an NPE but my father is (NPE); however, the stories are still relatable and entertaining. I also like the discussions focused on the DNA aspect.

I just finished bingeing all the episodes and it has been great. So much fun for gen geneas. There’s a charming rapport between Julie and Rich (though sometimes a tad bit over much chit chat off topic). I live the “from the trenches” updates.

This is my all time favorite podcast! Julie and Rich are THE BEST! It is the perfect mix of genealogy, DNA tips and tricks, personal stories, and so much fun in between. Bonus, I love any little side notes involving musical theater! 😍 This podcast will motivate you to get on the journey to seek your own truths!

I love this podcast. Oddly I only found it at the beginning of the pandemic and binge-listened. It was absorbing and helped blunt the impact of all of the insanity. Anyway - now I am caught up and eagerly await each new episode. As an adoptee the topic really resonates with me. I love how sensitive and kind Julie and Rich are and their banter (and as the mother of a musical theater kiddo I love the musical references). ♥️

Love the show. My parent was adopted. While searching for her parentage, I discovered that I was an NPE. It’s been a DNA rabbit hoke of secrets. The tips and tricks have helped uncover so much, and the stories help process the discoveries.

i am beyond happy that i found this podcast (better late than never) they way they convey the information is a breath of fresh air. they explain it in a way that is easy to understand without sounding condescending but also not dumbing it down to make it feel ignorant (i hope that sounds right) the stories are engaging and i’m always excited to hear what the next chapter. keep it up, everyone!!

Love this podcast. Rich and Julie are like Ethel and Lucy. They play off each other perfectly. The stories and DNA info are very helpful but very entertaining as well. I'll be listening for as long as they are there!!

I was looking for more genealogy podcasts and Cutoff Genes was one of the ones recommended. I wasn’t even through the first episode before I was hooked. I devoured all of the available podcasts within a month and now have to wait on the edge of my seat each week for a new episode. Julie and Richard (along with Renee in beginnings episodes - we miss you Renee!) are able to easily explain how to use DNA to further your genealogy research in a fun way, using news stories, personal stories, listener stories, and other guides. Not without their quips and sass, this podcast will making you laugh as you learn something something new each week. I recommend listening from the beginning to get the best experience; all levels of genealogists would benefit from giving this one a try!

I listen every time I get in the car. I think I’m on episode 39 and I just recommended to a Facebook friend this morning. I love the DNA info and all the stories. Every family has a story!

Really enjoy the podcast and the interactions, sometimes bantering, between Julie and Richard. Even though Julie is cruel and keeps you hanging on for the next episode with the DNA stories.

DNA driven ancestry research is challenging classic records research in a big way. Groups like the Mayflower Society for years have insisted on birth, baptism, marriage and death certificates and then awarded certification to “proven” descendants. Meanwhile, consumer DNA testing has become so widespread that long accepted blood lineages are being challenged left and right. At the same time, adoptees and children of out of marriage relationships are finding their birth parents by using a combination of DNA tests and the vast online databases from sites like Ancestry and Family Search. Julie delights us with the exciting hunt for truth and drags us, the listeners, into the 21st century with news, stories, interviews, and tips all presented at a very approachable and non-technical way. Strongly recommended!

Julie always has entertaining and informative news, stories and tips from the world of DNA and genealogy. I enjoy listening to her and Richard discuss all things DNA. And my knowledge of musicals has skyrocketed in the process!

Love the podcast and enjoy how you two play off of each other. Richard is hilarious with his quips and puns. I really enjoy listening to Julie and her interviews. Even though I am not adopted I like listening about the diff ways to search for DNA matches and genealogy. The episode 65 & 66 interview had me in tears. Very emotional and powerful. P.S. I have to admit I love the beginning jingle and sing along every time😆

This is one of my favorite podcasts! I love the camaraderie between Julie and Rich...I feel like I’m just enjoying a conversation among friends! The stories are what brings me back each week though! They make me realize I am not alone on this crazy rollercoaster of a ride as I research & discover my new family lines!

In this issue you are finding information on people and putting it public. Is that your business or your right to do that? I did really like your show you are well-informed and interesting, but there are a lot of other podcasts out there that are very informative and do not blurt out personal info.

I stumbled upon this podcast about 2 months ago. I instantly fell in love with the humor and topics. I listened all day long until I was full caught up. Now as soon as I get the notification that a new episode is up on Sundays I immediately have to listen. Thank you for sharing your DNA knowledge and being awesome!! Rich you’re awesome and hilarious and I love your puns. You guys make a great team!

As a newly-discovered NPE, I downloaded every genealogy-related podcast I could get my hands on hoping for stories, news and camaraderie. This podcast is by far my fave of the bunch! Julie is entertaining and knowledgeable, she has great energy and I hope I get a chance to share my own story soon!

This pod makes learning about genetic genealogy (gen-geni!) fun. Taking it out of the realm of dusty libraries and into the magic of science and the internet (no offense to libraries). And, Julie is an adoptee which makes her particularly invested in these methods. Very enjoyable!

Julie and her co-hosts are so engaging. I’m totally hooked on building my family tree and hunting for relatives using DNA. She gives so much information I have to re-listen to each episode.

This podcast has a fascinating story line on Julie researching her biological parents. It keeps me fascinated episode after episode after episode. She also provides a lot of insight on research and just things I always wondered about. She help me finally understand the difference between cousins and cousins removed. Just the beginning of the information she gives us. Her two cohorts on the podcast make it fun lively and definitely entertaining. I look forward to every episode that I listen to

Once the hosts have covered the how-to basics and the hosts' own stories, I hope that they'll provide a platform for more people to share stories about how their lives have been impacted as a result of DNA testing and genealogy research. These stories are so unique to this very exciting and specific time in history and they're all riveting to me!

A fresh take on Genealogy info. Fun, upbeat; specializing in tips for hard to find relatives (Julie was adopted.) I love the cliffhanger endings, but I’ll go nuts now that I’m caught up and can no longer binge-listen! Hope Julie and team have hints for finding birth certificates in home countries when we don’t know the parent’s names.
