Today, we're all used to Google and YouTube virtually owning the Internet.

But a few years ago it was quite different.

In the days when AOL and Yahoo were the leading search engines on the Internet, there was a different operating principle.

But today, these two former giants play almost no role.

Or when was the last time you talked to someone using AOL?

In my opinion, one of the main reasons why Google and YouTube were able to develop into such giants is the fact that they thought very long-term.

In the very first step, they provided content to their users for free.

To this day, you don't have to pay anything as a user of the Google search engine.

And you can also watch YouTube videos for free.

So how does a big corporation that provides free stuff for all users finance itself?

Quite simply, through advertising!

That means that companies like mine or yours spend money on it.

And why do we do that? Very simple! Because it works.

We need new customers!

And we know that our customers are currently either on Google or YouTube.

So it makes sense to invest some time, money and effort to make it work for your own company.

And with video content, we have two advantages right away.

Because if we can rank well on YouTube, then that is potentially possible with a video on the first page of Google.

To create such video content today you don't need a camera team anymore.

Some tools are required and of course we also need visuals and a few things like background music or spoken text.

To cut all this together and make a video out of it we use a video editor.

There are different solutions for this and some of them are better than others.

The solution we prefer is available for free as a simple version, but we bought the premium version.

And this has more than one reason.

First of all, the software is very stable, which means that we do not have to worry about any data loss when using this software, even if the computer crashes.

The second reason is that we have a lot of tools available for editing, but the handling of these tools is very simple.

With other solutions, sometimes you have to search for tutorials for several hours to find out how to use this or that function at all.

Reason number three is that with these editing tools we are also able to iron out afterwards mistakes we made during the creation of the recording.

And the fourth reason is that the export of the files is fast and we have a very small file format with good quality.

That means we don't have to edit or upload huge files.

For us, a video like this one is about 20 MB and can be viewed on all devices.

Depending on what videos you want to create, there are of course other solutions.

But for us it is usually important that something simply works stable and reliable enough so that you can use it productively in everyday life at any time.

For us, this also means that the software should be usable under Linux.

Because in contrast to Windows, with Linux you can set yourself what should be updated and how.

But if you have to work with Windows, you probably know the situation well.

Some forced update has to be installed exactly at the time when you are working on a video to win new customers and after booting up, either the video is defective or the whole computer can no longer be started properly.

Such productive failures in everyday life are annoying and we would like to prevent them also when creating videos for customer acquisition, that's why we use screencast-o-matic for our own video content.

You can download and have a look at this solution.

For the vast majority of everyday use cases, this software should be a very good choice.

Okay, that's it for today! If you have any questions or suggestions about the content in this video, feel free to send us an email.

We always reply personally and usually within 24 hours.

Thank you for your attention and see you in the next video!
