I still remember the time over half a decade ago when I first recorded videos for my courses.

At that time I had no office, no money and no equipment.

All I had was a laptop, a microphone and a simple webcam.

In order to record the videos in peace, I had to convince my brother-in-law to let me use his office on weekends.

Because there was a lot of construction going on around our house and even now, while I'm creating this content, one of our neighbours is making a lot of noise again with one of those loud garden tools.

I think it's something like a leaf vacuum cleaner.

But in this case it's not a problem.

Because in the meantime I have learned that there is a very simple and free way to generate videos in a very short time with the help of text content.

And it works without depending on whether the neighbours are loud or quiet.

Because right now I speak into a microphone and let my voice be recorded by a software that you get for free with every Google account.

It is the Google Docs application, which is part of Google Drive and provides a cloud-based solution for creating documents.

Along with this cloud based solution, there is also a very good speech recognition that is able to recognise fluently spoken text so well via the built-in laptop microphone that you only have to make a few small revisions afterwards.

And this can be done in an exceptionally short period of time!

I have been able to type with ten fingers for many years, but I am not able to even come close to the typing speed that automatic text recognition can deliver today.

Yes, I could also hire someone to write my spoken texts by hand.

And in some situations, that even makes sense!

For example, when it comes to programmer videos with many different technical terms that the software cannot recognise correctly.

But for the vast majority of uses and business areas, automatic text recognition really is a great boon and an enormous time-saver!

By the way, I recorded the original text for this video in my own mother tongue.

Then I can use Deepl to translate the German text into a fluent English text within a few seconds!

Every business owner also has to deal a lot with self-written texts and in the past we spent a lot of money to buy solutions like Dragon strictly speaking, IBM via Voice or similar software.

In fact, the result was hardly usable in the last two decades, but now speech recognition has become so good that it saves me many hours every day!

If you already have a Google account, just go to Google Docs.

There you create a new text document and click on Tools in the menu and then on Speech Input.

You can choose between many different languages and for English and German the recording is virtually in real time!

This allows you to record your own content in your native language and then translate it into English or another language without wasting a lot of time and without spending a lot of money on external service providers!

Another advantage of this method of entering texts is that you can also write the texts correctly straight away!

This is because most terms are already correctly recognised by the speech recognition system and the document can then be revised again with the help of a built-in autocorrect function.

Incorrectly written words are immediately marked visually and the correction suggestion can be adopted directly with a mouse click.

During the subsequent translation with the Deepl software, it is also possible to adjust the wording of individual passages so that the texts created can also be turned into a really good document in another language!

And you can do a lot with good text documents, for example, these texts can be converted back into spoken language after translation with text-to-speech software!

In Google Docs, you can also count the number of words directly via the tools to determine the corresponding text length.

In this case, it takes me about fifteen minutes to create and translate a document with 700 words.

This is exactly how we do it with our videos for this documentation!
