Curious Nicole Podcast

Curious Nicole

Nicole Colter
I'm curious who I will BECOME if I let go of perfectionism and the fear of negative evaluation by others. In this first season, I'm going to aim to create the most cringe-worthy content!! Unedited. Unscripted. Highly Divergent. I'm considering it exposure therapy. This podcast is for my students. Its a reflective journal of the many more things I want to say to them, but don't always find the time. Its also an example. I hope some of them may choose to create a podcast as a way to synthesize their learning and to think about their thinking.

Personal Management Projects
You are being challenged to use the management functions of planning, organizing, leading, and controlling to create management solutions to challenges in your own personal life, home, workplace, for the class, or a "client" and to present these solutions to the whole class in synchronous or asynchronous ways. You will need to package your solution into a 4-6 minute presentation to the class and showcase it as part of your ePortfolio. If you prefer to make a video or a podcast episode, this is considered asynchronous. We will still feature your presentation on your assigned day. In this episode I guide you through the divergent thinking phase of this DIY Creative Problem Solving Guide, a product I developed at the end of my first class in graduate school. If you would like to continue to explore using this guide, you can pick up on Page 8. Note to Day Shift: Your proposal due date is still 11/4 and your presentation dates are 11/30-12/9 This was recorded live during my Night Shift. I don't know that I normally breathe that loud but I should have moved the mic away from my mouth some more.

This is the edited version of the trailer since Anchor only allows up to 60 seconds I had to cut down the original which you can find in the episode list.

Commencement
I'm an educator defying the crowd;  I am cultivating creativity in a culture of conformity; I am called, creative, and curious and this is my Creative Cloud raining down some Confidence... We CAN do this! ________________________________ This is the first episode of a the Curious Nicole podcast created weekly by Nicole Colter for her students.  It is unedited, because learning (and sharing our voice) is more important than perfection. The poem above is an extension of an assignment I used to launch my Fall 2021 Principles of Management Diversity chapter*. It represents who I most feel like right now, in this very moment of creating this product. This packaging of my voice; this packaging of my skills; this packaging of my pedagogy; this packaging of the product named Nicole Colter The poem is influenced by a book I'm reading right now called Defying the Crowd: Cultivating Creativity in a Culture of Conformity. You can find that book here but as you can see there is an error in the Amazon page name - https://www.amazon.com/Defying-Crowd-Solutions-Relationship-Problems/dp/0743236475 Don't miss that point about the mistake publicly produced.  So much more to say...so glad we are commencing! *http://www.edchange.org/multicultural/activities/poetry.html
