Even more important now
Since the whole worldwide cruise industry was upset by Covid this year, this podcast offers an even more important perspective on what is happening in the affected ports of call. Keep it up! It is interesting and worthwhile.

A failed attempt to be this American Life or RadioLab
This podcast has the mild ambition of exploring the effects of the cruise industry on Alaska’s capital city, which if the presenter’s and producer’s took seriously they might have achieved.
Instead, they managed to convey a level insincerity and unprofessionalism that I initially mistook for parody. The cadence and tone of the presenters imitates shows like This American Life and Radiolab. It wasn’t a parody. It was real, so very, very real and so very awful. Unlike Radiolab or This American Life, the reporters ridicule their subjects and fail to approach the issues they discuss with even an modicum of journalistic objectivity. Their attempts at humor fall flat because the whole enterprise seems like joke.
In short, skip this trash unless you love listening to a poor imitations of Ira Glass, Jad Abumrad, and Robert Krulwich sneer at the subject matter.

Thorough and informative.
I have lived in Alaska for many years. I had visited Juneau a few times while I lived there and fell more in love with the city each time I visited. The community there is very connected and progressive, yet the city itself does not show everything there is to enjoy about the area. This podcast does well to elaborate on the details surrounding the city of Juneau, the economy, and just how much tourism effects the permanent population there.

Illuminating
Wish we had listened to this podcast prior to our visit to Juneau. This is a succinct and colorful history of Juneau and gave us a desire to visit again and learn more. Looking forward to the next episode.
