We have a tendency to try to make life happen on our terms an in our own strength. Doing so robs us of peace and fills us with stress because it puts the burden of it all squarely on our shoulders. God invites us to live with what John Eldredge calls, “benevolent detachment” which is to consistently “give everything and everyone to God” rather than trying to control and manage it all on our own. When we pause long enough to receive the peace that comes from giving it to Him, we can discern what He wants our next move to be.
