Larry Little
Leadership has become a buzzword. In this podcast, Dr. Larry Little skips the over-used cliches and industry jargon about leadership and digs deep into the moments when real people have been faced with hard decisions about what kind of leader they want to be. Leadership doesn’t happen in the vacuum of an office or boardroom, but in the moments when we strive and fail and try again to show up for our team, our friends, our families, and ourselves. This series will feature personal interviews with leaders from all walks of life, and give you insight into how they showed up in the moments that made them who they are today- the moments when they chose to cross the line.

How Personalities Protect Themselves: Tranquil Turtles
We are talking March Madness and how not to overuse our personality defenses. This week we take a look at the Tranquil Turtle. One of the strengths of the Turtle personality is thoughtfulness. Turtles are reflective, loyal, and deeply aware of how their words and actions affect others. They possess a quiet strength that is effective and powerful. But like every personality style, they can also overuse their strengths and become defensive or passive.  This can cause relationships to struggle and communication to decrease.  Here are four practical shifts that can make a big difference: 1. Shift from Disappearing to Setting Boundaries Stepping back can feel safer than engaging, but disappearing often leaves others confused and frustrated. 2. Shift from Swallowing Feelings to Naming Needs Early Turtles often hold their feelings inside until they become overwhelmed. Naming needs earlier and creating clarity allows others to understand and respond. 3. Shift from Saying Yes to Practicing Small No’s Learning to say small, respectful “no’s” creates healthier relationships and prevents the buildup of hidden stress. 4. Shift from Protecting People to Letting People Adjust Relationships grow when people are allowed to adjust and own their feelings. To hear the full conversation and more insights about how the Turtle personality can move from defense to healthy connection, listen to this week’s episode of the RelationShifts Podcast below.
