“Maqām” is a piece dedicated to the victims of the Palestinian massacre — and to all lives shattered by acts of collective violence around the world. The title refers to the modal system of Middle Eastern music, a language shaped by memory, emotion, and the subtle tension between grief and resilience. In this composition, the maqām becomes a space of mourning: suspended drones, fractured melodic lines, and unresolved harmonies trace the outline of a sorrow that finds no consolation. The music moves in slow circles, like a ritual of remembrance, allowing each sound to carry the weight of a story that can no longer be told.“Maqām” is conceived with the future in mind, giving room to silence and to mourning.A moment of listening for those who can no longer speak.A place where sound becomes witness.
