Easy Way to Learn WV History
I genuinely hope this podcast continues… it’s great to listen & learn about my home state of WV. I’ve been looking for a resource to learn more about WV tales/crime and came across this - perfect! They are short enough to not lose your attention & great for my commute.

Unsolved Murders
It’s been said that if you want to get away with murder, do it in Fayette County. Sue Roop, Cathy Carroll, Mike Nasby, George Whitten just to name a few. New listener and looking forward to your content.

Music distracts from the stories
I love the diverse and locally-focused stories on this podcast. Unfortunately I had to stop listening because the music is so annoying and distracting.

New listener.
Good job. If you like stories like this about West Virginia, i think you will love the stories of suburban, CT that they tell on "Community News with Paul and Sasha" satirical podcast. Actually, would be fun to hear you guys do a show together and combine the murders with their tales of hilarity. 5 ⭐️

Stop saying “closure”
I love this podcast and I think they do a great job considering how new they are to this. Especially because it hits close to home (being from southern WV). I listen to a LOT of true crime podcasts and watch a LOT of documentaries. However, the overuse of the word CLOSURE is very insensitive to the families and loved ones of the victims…for them, there can never be “closure.” For example, on NBC Dateline, they never use that word because they know how insensitive the word is. They should try replacing it with maybe the word “Justice”. That’s the only reason why I didn’t give 5 stars.

Great podcast, poor sound…
As a WV resident, I love the podcast and appreciate you sharing knowledge about crime in our state. I’d never heard of many of these cases, so I like hearing the history as well. I would like to see the episodes go into a little more detail. Some are too short and vague. Also, the sound quality leaves a lot to be desired. Some episodes are better than others, but as a news media outlet, I expected the audio to sound a lot better. Overall, I do enjoy and will keep listening. Thank you for sharing these stories.

Inexcusably paltry
Is there really a need for a podcast that averages less than 19 minutes per episode? Apparently the folks at 59 News thought so. A bi-weekly release schedule elongates the thirst any potential listeners might have for this sorry show. If you watch 59 News on either of their stations, the number of promo spots they run for this cast is absurd! The promotion that is offered up would lead you to believe this is top priority at the station. Clearly, this must have been a mandate or pet projects by someone who either doesn’t listen or doesn’t bother to check the bare bones effort poured into the project. The sad thing is, this could be a good show with interesting subject matter if anyone involved cared. For instance, they did not one, but TWO episodes on the Huntington prom murders. Total run time…22 minutes. This could have easily been an hour plus with all the content they could have covered. Probably shouldn’t expect much more from an inept Hokie at the helm. This is any easy skip. If you’re in the market for true crime about West Virginia, check out the small town murder podcast. They’ve done about a half dozen episodes centered in West Virginia. Leave this one on the clearance rack of podcasts where it belongs!

Fantastic Show
Great podcast! We look forward to new episodes. Living in southern WV, it’s nice to hear something local that’s informative and not full of gibberish like other podcasts. Keep up the good work.

Content and storytelling
The content is so well researched and it’s really fascinating to learn about stories that didn’t get as much national recognition due to their rural settings, but definitely should have! The story telling is great too. I normally only listen to podcasts on long car rides but have been listening to Crime in the Coalfields at the gym even!

Great job!
This podcast is well done and very interesting! Though these crimes are shocking, the drive and talent of the two hosts reminds us that this area has a lot of positive things going for it!
