Recordings/masters are the actual audio file you listen to. Record Labels buy these rights from artists, and monetise them by selling vinyl/CD, getting them streamed, licensed for adverts/TV, public performance and much more. &nbsp;Songs/compositions are the lyrics and melody within the audio files.&nbsp;
Publishers buy these from the artist and monetise these by encouraging other performing artists to play/use their compositions (covers), placement on adverts/TV, &nbsp;public performance, sheet music and much more. &nbsp;
