Matt did a great job presenting all sides of Ivan’s story and this case. Ivan’s story is equal parts tragic and infuriating. Do I think he did it? Probably not. In America, that “probably” = REASONABLE DOUBT. Ivan was executed on “facts” that’s basis was nothing but corruption and lies. Withholding information/evidence = lying. Had the jury heard even a quarter of the evidence that had been withheld by the prosecution, Ivan would still be alive today. As a result, Amy and James (and their families) will never get justice. May Ivan, Amy and James rest in peace. Keep up the good work, Matt. Looking forward to listening to your next podcast. Texas: Get it together.

Just finished the series. Well done. Very easy to listen to. Infuriated me at every level due to the incompetence of the people responsible for justice. Sending lots of thoughts to the family and those impacted by these events.

I never thought listen to podcasts anymore and as someone in the legal field this gave me chills. Big respect to Matt Duff and Cousins by Blood for the incredible work on Ivan Cantu’s case. The dedication, thorough research, and relentless pursuit of truth were truly admirable. It’s heartbreaking how things turned out, but the effort to shine a light on injustice was powerful and well done. Thank you for telling his story with such care and integrity.

I have been listening to true crime podcasts for years, and none have riveted me like this case. Matt did such an incredible job advocating for the truth of this horrible crime. At many stages in his investigation the pendulum of Ivan’s possible guilt or innocence swung back and forth, and it was always presented with neutrality. After listening; I have zero doubt that the evidence warranted a new trial for Ivan. One which absolutely would have casted reasonable doubt. As a Texas resident, I’m appalled at how the state judicial system turned its back on this man and the evidence. Once upon a time, I was a death penalty supporter. I am no longer. Sending love to the families of all the victims in this case; which now, sadly, includes Ivan Cantù.

A single word to describe what happened today. Injustice. My condolences to everyone who cared for Ivan, whether you knew him personally or not. Condolences for all of the angels who worked tirelessly trying to make them see the truth. Or at least the yearning to seek the truth. Your efforts were valiant and appreciated. Thank you for sharing his story and life with us. Thank you for opening many eyes to how easily falsehoods become facts. Protect yourselves fellow truth soldiers. God bless you Ivan. When lazy public defenders don’t do their jobs, don’t even put on a defense, then LIE to the court by saying their client ‘confessed’ in order to hide their incompetence - this is what you get. My god. This is how Americans lose faith in the justice system. This guy is innocent and if Abbott doesn’t step in quick - he’ll be executed 2 days from now. Sick. Tragic. Shameful. F the death penalty.

…that Ivan didn’t kill James and Amy. The evidence for his guilt is overwhelming. Read the transcripts from the trial!…When listening to the first couple of seasons of the podcast, I went back and forth between guilt and innocence. Then I realized the twisting and contortions made by the podcast to fit the “innocence narrative”. I don’t think these claims would have gone so far if Amy B were still alive…..That being said, I think this case doesn’t require the DP. Ivan should ADMIT he did it, APOLOGIZE profusely, ADMIT he did it in a drug-fueled rage, BEG for mercy, and PROVE he’s not a threat. Time is running out. Hope his sentence is commuted to life w/o parole.

IVAN IS GUILTY and he’s going to pay with his life. RIP JAMES AND AMY!! Ivan, I hope you have asked for forgiveness from your God. Cannot believe the number of people who believe this nonsense. Updated! All you 5 star reviewers … did you listen to Ivan’s last interview done by someone other than Matt (because Matt wasn’t legally allowed to)? That’s the real Ivan. The shaky talking Ivan. The getting caught in lies Ivan. His DNA is on the gun clip but he claims to never have fired a gun. Ever. C’mon now. Y’all can’t be that foolish to let Ivan the conman con you too! It doesn’t matter though. Come February he’ll be gone from this world and James and Amy can finally rest in peace! The PI hired by family left a lot out. Even though the podcast alone convinced me he’s guilty, the transcripts show things are not what they seem based on what podcast says. Ivan’s DNA on the waistband of the jeans for one. Totally left that out of podcast. Anyway, if you want to believe all people are innocent it’s good for you. If you have critical thinking skills you’re just going to be frustrated at how, once again, a one-sided podcast has duped you.

I am not paying to hear more bunk evidence to keep a dream alive that he’s innocent. He is guilty, and in Texas, if you commit capital murder, you get the death penalty. His life should not be spared because he let you interview him. Go back and listen and you can hear his tell when he lies.

I’m into Season 3 so have a few more episodes to go, but I’ve never found a podcast, starting from the first one I ever listened to, Serial, be so well investigated, so well edited and put together for an incredibly compelling and easy to listen to podcast. Makes you rethink everything. Especially how the press and justice system rush to judgment - kudos to Matt for the BEST podcast EVER!

Please stop it with all these conspiracy theories. The man is guilty. He’s going to get the lethal injection. He is a killer and it’s time for him to go and give the families justice.

Ivan is definitely guilty but I still don’t want to see him executed but he don’t deserve to be free either abolishing the death penalty by the way there’s no way I’m paying to listen to this.

I was truly invested in this podcast and hung on every word trying to figure it out…now after all this time I have to pay to continue listening? What a let down to all of us who supported/listened to this podcast from the beginning. I understand that you may need to make money, but geeezzz…what a let down. And by the way…he’s guilty!

To begin with I don’t think Ivan is innocent anymore. There’s too much evidence that points to him and too many coincidences and strange police tampering to make him innocent at this point. Why the talk about the metal the ring was made from? Not that big of a deal. Now we can’t listen to episodes if we don’t donate?

I am obsessed with this show! In episode 34, Amy B’s statement said that Ivan’s gun was jammed when he came back to the apartment after the alleged murders. But. A few episodes earlier, it was stated that 7 bullets were found at the scene at James and Amy K’s house. I remember thinking “Dang. Somebody emptied the clip on them.” It was also stated that the gun only held 7 bullets. To me, that means the assailant didn’t reload. How could it have been jammed if it was empty?

This is such a thorough investigation and podcast, I love it and I love Matt’s work but God bless America, I cannot stand listening to Sylvia! She is the least helpful mother I can imagine, like she only has half a brain. It’s infuriating and I can only imagine she’s made this 10 times harder for Ivan along the way. She is a total ding dong and if I never had to hear her say “mhmm” again, that would be fine by me!

This is a great podcast! Matt did a great job. It is so unbelievable to me how the system failed Ivan so miserably. Over 20 years of his life was taken from him. Very sad. How do these people live with themselves?!?!

This podcast is great. Goes very in depth with details and covers all points. It would be nice to hear from the victims families but from my understanding they didn’t want to participate. The one thing I HATE is the voice actors. They sound soooo cheesy and they just aren’t necessary. I’m not sure why he doesn’t have normal people reading the court scripts. The cheesiness drives me insane.

I thought Ivan was still guilty but when you hear about the jeans and the fingerprint this man was failed by lawyers , and their whole Texas court system I pray he gets a fair trial and they find the real killers and everyone who didn’t defend him properly is made to pay . 20 years on death row for a murder you didn’t commit is crazy good job on this podcast this podcast has me hooked

Now that Jeff ( Amy’s brother) has recanted his testimony, it confirms that Jeff and Amy were lying and set up Ivan. Wonder who put Amy up to it? She wasn’t smart enough to pull this off by herself. Hopefully the courts will take another look now that jurors are now saying they would not have voted the same way. If they don’t review this, something is fishy in the Collin County ,Texas court system.

Long documented narrative is interesting but the material is very sad. Lots of brutal addiction, lots of unknowns of regarding the conviction and trial, and the imminent death of a man.

This is a great podcast and incredibly thorough. I’m not sure about guilt for Ivan but his position is effectively: everyone at every level is engaged in some sort of conspiracy to make him a convicted murdered. In other words, everyone is lying except him. The police framed him; prosecutors were engaged in prosecutorial conduct; four different sets of attorneys at various levels, including three appellate attorneys, didn’t want to help him or they are lying, the Private Investigators are do-less and committed fraud, etc etc. It’s so conspiratorial and far fetched, but maybe he’s just the unluckiest person on earth?

Hands down one of the best podcast series I’ve ever listened too. Guilty or not, this podcast will keep you on the edge of your seat. I hope Matt continues with more!

I have some experience in the criminal justice system. I can attest to the following: A: No case is perfect. Police make mistakes overall in this case the police did a good job. B: The reasoning of why would Ivan do this as opposed to that does not hold water. I have dealt with drug users and they do dumb things. No matter how smart you believe Ivan to be. The same is true of Amy. Even without her testimony I would have found Ivan guilty. C: Ivan’s claim of a vast conspiracy to frame him, makes no sense. It makes as much sense as the pizza man story. D: It comes down to possibilities v. probabilities. It is possible that I will win the lottery however is it probable no. The fingerprint is a prime example. Is is possible that Ivan just happened to “handle a weapon” which was used in this crime. Yes. However is it probable. No. The explanation that he handled a weapon in a “random person’s garage” is outrageous. E: I believe Ivan is guilty. The question I have is with the punishment. I am not sure that Ivan is a continuing threat to society. He is in prison. He has been purportedly been off drugs for 20 plus years. I think he should spend the rest of his life in prison C:

I’m struggling to write an eloquent review so for now, all that comes to mind is if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck… I’m also baffled that after 37 (!!!) superfluous episodes, additional episodes will be released later this month. Perhaps the final episodes will genuinely, honestly, and thoroughly review and analyze all the evidence that points to Mr. Cantu’s guilt. And yes, I did read all the case materials, trial transcripts, online articles, Reddit forums, etc. related to this case. I also listened to another podcast regarding this case. After taking ALL this in, I believe it is FINALLY time to take a step back and accept that Mr. Cantu is guilty. One more, I realize very petty, observation - I just can’t with the one woman doctor who keeps on pronouncing “rigor” with a long “i” (aside from the fact that she comes across as highly un-credible in her confusion and uncertainty when answering the host’s questions).

I enjoy this podcast. It’s interesting and offers a one-sided version of Ivan’s case. However, I believe Ivan is guilty. I went back and forth for awhile but always felt something was off. This last episode with Ivan’s interview with the reporter…Ivan’s a slick talker that thinks he can talk his way out of everything. Truth be told, he offered no real answers for any of the questions. He talked in circles. I believe there are truly innocent people out there that deserve help and attention to their cases. Ivan isn’t one of them.

This is hands down one of the best true crime podcasts I’ve ever listened to, and I’ve been through a lot! This is a huge investment of your time but it’s absolutely worth it. Matt does a fantastic job and he is extremely thorough. There is, however, one problem, and it’s a BIG one. Where are the last episodes?!! I’ve gone through them all and can not find anything past episode 34! It’s TORTURE! Please advise as to where these episodes can be found(I’ve looked everywhere) or if they were never published. To my understanding, there should be two episodes remaining.

I haven’t heard any reasonable doubt yet, just a bunch of people saying, “A guilty person wouldn’t be stupid enough to do that.” HE WAS ON DRUGS! Drugs make you do stupid things like kill your cousin and his partner and leave lots of evidence behind.

Matt, I appreciate the thoroughness with which you presented information; however, it seems you are primarily one sided (I get it, it’s your podcast, lots of moving parts that I also vacillated with Ivan’s guilt or innocence). But for you to insinuate that if Amy B was scared of Ivan she should have alerted someone? That’s victim blaming at its finest, would you ask Elizabeth Smart why she waited so long to escape if she was fearful of her captors? Come on now, that’s triggering for tons of victims.

Love this podcast but wondering what is going on since no episodes since March. Story was near the ending of Matt’s search for the truth. Don’t leave us hanging and will there be future podcasts from you?

I’m loving this podcast and I would like to hear the recent episodes. Has there been new episodes released? On mine it says 39 episodes but only 34 are showing. Is there something wrong on my end that I need to do. Just got tying to make sure I’m not missing any episodes
