I love this show for so many reasons! First- the host, Nelafur, is genuinely interested in every topic and every guest that she talks with. Her curiosity is infectious! And second- Every episode surfaces topics and angles on the issues that I wouldn’t normally think about- so many fresh perspectives to consider. As an educator I appreciate the variety of world views that this show illuminates! So important for us to break out of our silos and listen to how others see these complex issues. I especially appreciate the personal stories of people living as refugees- their resilience is powerful but the injustice is enraging!

Hi Neulfar, you do a brilliant job here listing the opinions from the opposite end of the spectrum. And the documentary “The Traffickers” you produced is such a phenomenal film. It touched me and awakened me in so many ways. I was wondering if you and the team are planning to touch on the topic as such using this global platform?

The production quality is top notch, and Nelufar does a great job providing both sides of an issue. The episode about cancel culture is my favorite as Nelufar explains her personal connection to it the issue, but still presents both sides evenly.

This host does a wonderful job. I particularly liked the topics last season, like the episode on period poverty.

Do these episodes really have two sides or are they curated to pick people who mainly agree with the author/commentator, and those she feels confident won’t take her thinking to task too much? I’ve not heard any real challenging of ideas lately from a non progressive, less than woke guest. Providing shades of different progressive thought is not the same thing as a real debate of an issue.

Nelufar is a cool lady. Engaging and thoughtful, too. Loved her interview of her dad. He sounds like a cool dude, too. Now, where can I find Season 1?

I was very happy to learn Doha Debates has a podcast. They are a great org that is tackling incredibly relevant issues, and this podcast is no exception. The writing is smart and informative, and the host, Nelufar Hedayat, brings an infectious mix of nonchalant relatability and profound insight. Keep it up!

I originally really enjoyed the first few episodes of the podcast. The host has a great way of engaging the audience and many of the episodes are touching, like the refugee episode. But the more I listen, the more disappointed I feel by the lack of the substance. I was lured into the series because I thought I’d be course corrected, learning about topics I took for granted and walking away with a handful of info and insight. But the episodes just feel like a quick chat without offering any of this shift in perspective I was promised. This podcast has a lot of potential but needs to live up to the title and hopefully will start including more investigation and analyses of the issues/topics talked about

I heard your episode on The young Turks, and I thought I’d give it a listen. I just finished the first episode and it was such an eye opener. It has made me more aware of what I am using and wasting. Thank you. Podcasts like this are going to help make the drastic shift we need to save the planet.

It’s so hard to find thoughtful counter narratives that do not verge on the absurd. This show manages to do this by giving voice and humanizing the stories of people (like afghan refugees) that are far too often excluded from mainstream media narratives. I’m looking forward to future episodes!!!

This is officially my favorite podcast. I loved following Nelufar as she challenges herself in each episode. It is entertaining and educational.

This podcast is a breath of fresh air. These days it’s easy to feel helpless when we think about all the complex problems we’re facing. But Nel really distills the issues, makes them personal and gives us all a little hope that there are actually things we can do to make a difference. Can’t wait to hear more!
