Our mission is greatly focused on providing community, support, and resources to those whom we have identified as underserved members of our community. When it comes to immigration law and immigrant rights, this information often does not reach those who could use it the most.
In this episode, Katherine Garcia, an immigration attorney, shares some valuable information and insights that anyone with an immigration case should be aware of.
We decided to record this episode in both English and Spanish in hopes that this will reach more people who might need it.

One of CPL’s initiatives is our Sin Paredes’s Scholarship Fund, which was created specifically for DACA recipients and undocumented students. We believe that, to this day, these individuals have been underserved members of our community and continue to be faced with so much adversity.
In this episode, Maribel Serrano shares what it’s like growing up undocumented in the U.S. from the lens of a girl that was brought to this country at the age of 4, her motivation to advocate for the Latinx community, and provides insight into the advance parole process which is available to DACA recipients.
Maribel is a marketing professional, filmmaker, and real estate investor. She is the subject and producer of the feature documentary My DACA Life in partnership with Avenida Productions. A formerly undocumented Latina from Jalisco, Mexico, Maribel’s personal life experience led her to become a trailblazer in her community. She became an activist at the young age of 18, sharing her story through the halls of Congress in Washington D.C, and across local and international media platforms. Maribel is also a bold and dynamic leader who emphasizes representing the Latino community at a personal and professional level. During her time at the Los Angeles Latino Chamber of Commerce, Maribel collaborated alongside some of the most prominent Latino entrepreneurs while advocating for underserved businesses to obtain access to economic opportunities at a local, state and federal level.

On today's episode, I had a conversation with Myra and Abe — two of our board members who are a part of the LGBTQIA+ community. They shared some of their experiences around their traditionally conservative upbringing, their contrasting coming out stories, and how they got to a point in their lives where they whole-heartedly accepted their identities.
