“ChatGPT, OpenAI’s newest artificial intelligence tool, is capable of many things: summarizing books, filling out forms, composing plays, and writing news stories. There’s one thing this multibillion-dollar artificial secretary struggles with applying standards equally. “Claiming to be neutral but enforcing partisan double standards has become a common tactic.

The recent Twitter files revealed this to be the universal practice at Twitter, under pressure from the United States government. “As the ChatGPT examples demonstrate, claims of neutrality no longer guarantee neutrality. It will be up to individuals and businesses to verify whether AI models are acting in their interests or the interests of fringe activists.” https://nypost.com/2023/02/15/heres-h…

Brian Chau, a math prodigy and AI pluralist, discusses the political biases that can be programmed into AI language models, specifically in OpenAI’s Chat GPT. He notes that the model exhibits a double-standard behavior through ideological filters that increase political bias towards extreme left-wing policies. The speaker argues that the New York Times and academia have significant societal power, which can often influence the language used in language models. Chau also sees AI as a force for good to automate areas that have become prone to ideological distortion, such as journalism and academia, but notes the potential for AI to become susceptible to attack. Overall, Chau remains optimistic about the medium and long-term future of AI.
