What is going on? Social scientist Laurens Buijs (40) is thwarted and his thinking is threatened. His findings about the over-representation of Moroccan-Dutch boys in anti-gay violence have been causing him problems for years.

In the corona pandemic, Buijs came under fire when, with the recently deceased French philosopher of technology Bruno Latour in hand, he questioned the political and financial incentives behind Pfizer’s development and implementation of the mRNA vaccine.

The same UvA now treats Buijs as a ‘monster’, not because of ‘cross-border behaviour’, but because of his views. As much as he begs for it, no one wants to argue with him. His opinion is not wrong, but still “wrong” (morally reprehensible). Convicted without a fair trial, without substantive arguments.
