Hour 2 (10.19) 7:05 — Timmy’s special in-studio guest tonight is former NBC Channel 4 weatherman, the iconic Fritz Coleman, who presented the weather for 40 years. He comes from the world of standup comedy — much to the chagrin of meteorologists — and was scouted for TV while performing at the Comedy Store. Luckily, back then there was no weather in the state of California, where it used to be 71 degrees and sunny all year round, so the job was a literal no-brainer. Fritz is here to talk about his hit comedy show “Unassisted Living,” which you can catch at the El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood. Get your tickets at elportaltheatre.com/fritzcoleman 7:20 — When Fritz worked in Buffalo as a weatherman, it was during the OJ Simpson era, and the Juice was bigger than Moses in the frozen Northeast. The only person who came close to OJ levels of popularity in Buffalo was Rick James, another native son. Now the talk of Tinseltown is that OJ may have had an accomplice in the murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. Fritz tells stories of working with his 1990s partner, KNBC anchorman John Beard, who Mark also had a personal relationship with — naturally. 7:35 — When it comes to Karen Bass, is John Kobylt a jihadist? Mark sure thinks so! Meanwhile, LA residents are getting serious sticker shock, with their LADWP bills through the roof to the tune of hundreds of dollars, and in some cases thousands of dollars! It’s becoming a big subject in the LA mayoral race, and Timmy thinks it’s due to politicians raising the utility prices to put that extra money in the general fund as a form of taxation. Sneaky. 7:50 — There’s been a lot of layoffs in Hollywood, including the latest round of 1,000 people at Netflix — and that’s after the streaming giant wanted to buy Warner Bros and Paramount. Netflix is now bringing in Peter Rice, who used to work for Disney. Over the past decade, Hollywood has lost 50,000 jobs, including thousands of layoffs following the Paramount-Skydance-Warner Bros-Discovery merger. The media landscape is certainly changing.
