Hour 2 (10.08) Rough week for LAFD: An emergency truck flipped in South Los Angeles racing to a homeless encampment fire, both firefighters OK, and four more were hurt in a fridge explosion at a Silver Lake house. California and Texas remain two different planets. Death row here almost never ends in an execution. Texas uses a firing squad, and those are set to be televised.

Costco’s Kirkland is somehow a fashion brand now. Some guy on the 5 was yelling at CHP and Caltrans to open the freeway — or he wasn’t. Clap, then snap. Timmy put $40 on the Padres to win the Series so they’d get wiped out, and now he’s off to Vegas to curse Milwaukee the same way. He’s still shocked his name isn’t on the Stanley Cup after betting against the LA Kings every game so they’d win two out of three. Hollywood filming money is back: Gavin Newsom says more than $1 billion in tax credits and 35 new films are coming to Greater LA, including the last “Friday,” with 30,000-plus cast, crew, and background. Air Supply finally gets a Hollywood Walk of Fame star this weekend. Timmy’s a fan. Atta boys. Then a quieter close: ten years ago today, Palm Springs Officer Lesley Zerebny — daughter of Timmy’s buddy, CHP Officer David Kling, a new mom who followed her dad into the job — was killed in the line of duty with her partner, veteran Officer Jose Gilbert Vega, two months from retirement.
