Timmy’s studio is packed with comedy royalty tonight as he welcomes Zoe Friedman and Amber J. Lawson, co-founders of the nonprofit Comedy Gives Back — the real safety net for stand-up comics who need a hand. Next week they’re hosting the annual 818 Benefit: Brody Stevens Festival of Friendship Show at The Comedy Store in West Hollywood, raising money for comedians in crisis. Zoe’s dad was the legendary Budd Friedman, founder of The Improv (now 23 locations strong), the man who discovered Adam Sandler and managed Jay Leno. Speaking of Leno… who’s that calling the hotline?  

Zoe also booked talent for David Letterman and helped develop shows like “Crank Yankers,” “The Man Show,” and “Loveline” at Comedy Central. The duo was close with the late Brody Stevens, the larger-than-life 818 comic from Reseda, which is why this benefit means so much.
