A nasty SoCal heatwave is rolling in with sky-high humidity — we’re all sweating balls out here! Wildfires have sparked but firefighters are working hard on containment. Paris Hilton is back in the news as an advocate fighting to shut down the brutal Provo, Utah boarding school she attended as a teen, though we can’t help missing the old “Simple Life” Paris from the aughts. There’s a vegetation fire called the Zebra Fire burning in Azusa north of the 210, and don’t forget the shirtless nut in East Hollywood who jumped on a Waymo’s windshield, yelling at the sensors and ripping the car apart.  

In Boyle Heights, residents are dealing with an unbearable rotten stench, flies, and rodents thanks to the 85 million pounds of food rotting at the burned Linear Logistics warehouse, plus a burst water main leaving people without water nearby. On a slightly better note, two corpse flowers are about to bloom at the Huntington Library — those things only flower for 24–48 hours every few years and smell exactly as bad as the name suggests. In celebrity news, comedian Tom Segura and his wife Christina Pazsitzky announced they’re divorcing but will keep doing their podcast “Your Mom’s House” together (that should go smoothly!), while Brad Pitt’s kids Zahara and Maddox took out newspaper ads announcing they’re dropping “Pitt” and keeping “Jolie.”
