Actor and longtime environmentalist Ed Begley Jr. and his daughter Hayden Begley call in to chat with Andy about their upcoming benefit performance of David Auburn’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play “Proof” at the El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood, running July 23–26. The production holds special meaning as it marks the 10-year anniversary of Ed’s Parkinson’s diagnosis. Ed also reflects on his decades-long environmental advocacy — from warning about pollution, microplastics, and sustainability since the 1970s to his innovative home-building tricks like using shredded blue jeans for insulation.  

Meanwhile, families in Ladera Ranch, Orange County, are raising alarms over a cluster of children diagnosed with the rare bone cancer Ewing sarcoma, with five families in the community of about 25,000 affected and questions swirling about possible links to pesticides.
