Childhood abuse and trauma
On this weeks episode we discuss a very important topic of childhood abuse and trauma with a focus specifically on physical abuse, sexual abuse and neglect. We also discuss some of the warning signs that people need to look out for. Childhood abuse and trauma is a serious issue in the black communities and it is important that we understand the significant impact it can have on the child. We also provide some resources to help families who might be impacted by childhood abuse to seek help and support.

Domestic Violence/Intimate Partner Violence
October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month and so we thought it was important for us to have an open and honest conversation about domestic violence/intimate partner violence. For this conversation we defined what domestic violence is and some types of DV as well as warning signs. We also discussed a recent event of DV incident where a young woman lost her life. In March of this year the COVID19 pandemic changed lives all over the world.. Families in all parts of the world were forced to shift gears to do things differently than what they were accustom to. For many families schools closing down forced many caregivers to become educators with no other options. We share personal experences as it relates to the subject matter because it is important that people understand that they are not alone in this. Over the last few months we have experienced so much significant shift in our normal way of life from COVID19 which caused us to be socially isolated to racial tension.  COVID-19 has had a profound and unprecedented impact on all of our daily lives. Social distancing, unemployment, sudden loss, are all drastic changes that can bring, what feels like, unbearable stress and anxiety into anyone’s life.  Also the heighten racial tension that continues to impact society is causing many people to feel unease and overhemlemed.  And just in life general people are dealing with anxiety, depression and other mental health challenges and can't seem to manage it all.
