You may remember Dr. Charles Lenell (pronouns: they/them) from episode 49 (The Doctoral Shortage). Dr. Lenell is back to discuss an online petition they filed with change.org. The gist of the petition: LGBTQ students at some colleges and universities face discrimination due to a loophole afforded by 'religious exemption.' The petition asks for transparency so potential students can better decide which programs will meet their needs.
Essential to this conversation is an understanding of the role of the Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) as well as what protections Title IX provides in theory and practice.

The growing adoption of teletherapy will inevitably lead to a broader selection of online platforms for providers. Ambiki is one such platform that recently had a "coming out party" at ASHA 2022 in New Orleans.
My guest today is Bailey Morgan, director of clinical sales and marketing for Ambiki. In today's episode, we talk about the following:
Bailey's clinical career thus far and transition to working with Ambiki
Jeff's experiences with teletherapy thus far.
How Ambiki came to be
Some of Ambiki's features and hopes for the future
Beta Testing for EMR (let Bailey know if you are interested).
You can find Ambiki here.
You can reach Bailey here.
Disclosures: I do not have any financial disclosures to report.

Every therapist I've ever met has dealt with feelings of burnout from time to time. From productivity pressures to feelings of imposter syndrome, we all struggle to make sense of it all as the years of practice fade into the background. We must regularly take stock of our own emotions and beliefs to prevent the big "B."
Danielle Stoller is a physical therapist who did experience burnout. The subject of today's episode is how she dealt with that hopelessness and found answers to re-establish her passion and drive for her patients. Her journey was made possible with inspiration from Marabeth Quinn, a parent of a client of Danielle's. Together they formed Expanded Practice, a site where therapists can find the support to examine their relationships within and with others.
Thank you, Danielle and Marabeth, for a very thought-provoking episode!

Jill Escher is president of the National Council on Severe Autism (NCSA), an organization formed over two years ago by a group of parents looking to raise awareness and advocate for autistic individuals with more severe manifestations of autism. The NCSA has been sounding the alarm bells regarding the lack of societal preparedness for the magnitude of young adults leaving the educational system at 21. They address complex issues without pulling punches—housing, therapy interventions, mental health, guardianship, and the neurodiversity movement are all covered through a combination of position statements, webinars, and powerful blog pieces.
In today's episode, we cover:
Jill's background and advocacy role
Rising incidence of autism
Issues of causality, future directions of research
The Neurodiversity movement
FC and Rapid Prompting

In this episode, I am happy to welcome Miriam Campbell from Skills for Connection. Miriam is both a certified speech-language pathologist and a social worker. Why the dual degrees? From the start, Miriam was keenly interested in working in the social cognition space. But she felt her slp training did not give her everything she needed at the time.
You'll hear about Miriam's journey as well as her philosophy of empowering both teachers and students to choose who they wish to be in this moment and the next.
